It's a Start

Amazingly, I started a new project yesterday...this one:

I brought several mini patterns from Suzanne's Art House this time. I'm doing the largest of the minis, in the foreground of the picture above. Possibly I'm in a red and white mode right now because that's all I'm working on. These are the fabrics I brought from home:

The two reds are lying on a cream colored solid, if it isn't obvious. Yesterday I did the cutting.

Kitties aren't a lot of help when it comes to cutting in the RV. If we were at home, they'd be all over my work table, helping me hold things down. In the RV, the best kitties can hope to do is to stand back and stand by...to quote a famous former world leader.

In other red and white news, I filled my hoop yesterday. I kind of like the little Amish doll at the top. I'm assuming she's Amish because of her bonnet, and because I like all things Amish.

On a new piece, it's always a decision whether to move the hoop from side to side or up and down. In this case, I decided to work my way up and down. I kind of wanted to finish the dress and the hat.

Yesterday I did a little more stitching in the afternoon, and I'll do some more this morning. Probably I won't do any other sewing today because it's our grocery shopping day. Does it seem like we do more grocery shopping than anything else? We're often stopping in to pick up this thing or that thing, but today we'll be picking up a week's worth of groceries, and that always wears me out. The grocery store here, unlike ours at home, has one-way aisles as a COVID precaution, and we're forever heading down the wrong direction. It's one thing we haven't gotten used to in these weird pandemic days.

We have one more full day here tomorrow, and then we'll be heading south about two hours to Boulder City, Nevada, to another park we've stayed at many times. We're hoping for better weather. There has been some good outdoor dining in Boulder City in the past, and it would be nice to visit a restaurant, weather permitting. There's also some great hiking around Lake Mead.

So that's what's going on at this end. There's some wild weather out there right now, including snow in Tucson, or so I'm told. Stay safe, healthy, and warm. Longer and warmer days are coming.

Really cute redwork--coming so well.
We have one way aisles here and they are puzzling sometimes...I agree...
I went grocery shopping yesterday and double masked myself...feeling anxious about this uptick in the mutant virus strains...anyway...it's done...
Tom helped me unload my cart and then the put away at home...he is so good that way...
I worked on my log cabin, Unity, this afternoon and will have to cut more cream-ey strips before I can continue...
Stay safe hugs, Julierose

You made some good progress on your stitching, and you got some cutting done - yay! Hope you do have better weather at your next stop. Yesterday we had a whopping high of 12. This morning we're at a balmy 5.

Those pieces are tiny. Just thinking how accurate they need to be has me admiring your skill. I saw on the news Las Vegas had snow, too. That storm covered a large area. Our rain continues. Things are starting to slide south of us. We are safe and snug in our homes. It’s always a toss up regarding rain, we need it to stave off a drought but too much at one time causes slides.

Those are some teeny tiny pieces!kudos to you for being able to power through the pain to get them cut accurately. Your handwork stitches don't even show a wobble, so I'm sure your minis will be beautiful too. I cannot even imagine snow in Tucson! Had you planned to go south originally or are you seeking sunshine? Are you finding it difficult to get reservations or are you just winging it?

I got results for my covid antibody test yesterday...as sick as I was back in jan, last year, apparently, it was NOT covid, as my results were negative. Either that, or antibodies don't last a full year. Either way, it looks like we won't be going anywhere for a while, since I'm not even on the radar yet for a vaccine in FL. Now, if we still lived in TX, my asthma would qualify me for eligibility. But, we're not in TX, so I'm not eligible. :(

Safe travels!

It's hit and miss here whether stores have their aisles marked as being one way. To my mind it's a much safer way to go but then there's always the bonehead(s) that go their own merry way despite the very large signs to contrary. My favourite grocery store is well marked and I go at 7am when they first open so the chances of running into said boneheads is a little less. Glad to know the kitties are kitty-vising over all that you're doing.

I'm lucky in that My Guy is the grocery shopper in this family. The weather has been not fun here for the last week or so, very cold and windy. Hopefully cutting out the next project will bring on some desire to get the machine out and stitch for a bit. You are moving along on the embroidery project.
