Good morning, my friends. We took an easy day on Thursday. Now we're rested up and ready to make our way home. From here on, we'll be driving, driving, driving and we'll expect to reach home by August 2nd. There will still be a little bit of summer left for us to enjoy when we reach our own place. For now, we find ourselves in a rustic RV park in Swift River, Yukon Territory. Sorry for such a crappy picture. Sometimes I have to be quick with my shutter finger.
Leaving Whitehorse, we first crossed over the Yukon River.
It was raining a good part of the day, although the sun came out for a while after we'd reached our final destination. Since we've traveled this road before, I didn't take a lot of pictures. If you'd like to see the things we noticed when we traveled toward Alaska, you can read my post about this section of road right here.
We drove past Marsh Lake. The lakes in this part of the Yukon are huge.
Sadie kept watch from our back window.
She'll be happy to be home soon where she'll be able to get out and run around outside too. They're always kind of funny when we return home from a long trip. They already seem to know we're home when we open the door to the RV. They'll run all the way around the house, but then right away, they'll want to be let inside. Then, they'll run all around the inside of the house making sure everything is as it should be. (In truth, Mike and I probably do something similar.)
Already I've spent some time with the Milepost marking points of interest once we turn south. Although we've been heading toward home for the past several days, it feels as if we're really on our way now that we'll be driving due south. Hopefully, I'll have something new to share in tomorrow's post. For now, it's time to be on our way. As the roads improve, we'll be driving faster. Be sure to buckle up.

Should we also fasten bra straps and remove dentures for this part of the trip, too? Smitty & Sadie are checking their 'messages' when they run round the outside of the house when released.

Hope the miles fly by and you are home soon! Those last few days on the road can get long!
Keep your eye out for a Spirit(komoda) Bear as you pass near Terrace BC. My Nieces husband spotted one by the roadside once. Could happen again.
It always seems like the trip home is faster than the trip out, but since you want to be home, it's still not fast enough.
My father was born in Smithers and it must have been close to the railway because my grandfather was a train engineer. I am chuckling that I live in BC and am getting a geography lesson on my province from you. Hope the travel south has no delays for road construction or fires. It would be nice if the US border guards welcome you home with a glance at your passports and a smile.
Home is sending up a beacon call in hopes that you get there soon. Be safe and don't drive TOO fast.
