Return to Whitehorse

Good morning, my friends. Since we're backtracking over ground already covered, I don't have a lot to tell you this morning. We left Pine Lake campground under dark skies, and it rained hard at times. Night time rains seem to be the rule around here...for the moment, anyway. The clouds were low, and some had settled into the valleys.

Like our drive from the day before, the sky started to lighten approaching the noon hour. Eventually, we were in sunshine.

We're staying at an RV park here in Whitehorse that has a food truck serving sandwiches, pizzas, wine, and beer. Supposedly, it is staffed by European chefs. There is a whole list of different pizza combinations one could order. My favorite pizza is Hawaiian pizza. Yes, with pineapple. As I've said before on this blog, I love pineapple. The combination of ham and pineapple makes for a perfect pizza, and I'll fight anyone who disagrees. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Nevertheless, this description for their own Hawaiian pizza gave me a chuckle:

Kinda makes me want to order a Hawaiian pizza just to be a snot.

So we relaxed for most of the afternoon. We were both feeling pretty lazy after four solid days of driving. The road was much improved yesterday, as expected. We were sorry we didn't see any wildlife along the way, although we did see a bunny hop out to drink from a puddle of water.

After lunch, naps, and coffee, I started on the 9th block for the Raggedy & Friends project.

There's still a long way to go on this, and there's no way I'll finish it before we return home. That has me thinking about the projects left behind. When I'm able to get back into my sewing room, I'll add this to my rotation of projects, and work on it as its turn comes around. The blocks are both pieced and embroidered, and so I'll add it to both my embroidery projects and to my pieced WIPs. Probably I'll have some time to work on it some more today.

We'll also do our grocery shopping today, and I've created a shopping list that should get us most of the way home. Before we cross the border into Washington state, I'll have to reassess what can be taken across the border and what cannot. That will be a ways down the road, however, and so I don't need to think about it for this shopping trip. The laundry at this RV park will accept my dollar Canadian coins (loonies), and so I’ll do a load of laundry, if for no other reason than to rid myself of my remaining Canadian currency. We’re going to have breakfast at McDonald’s this morning as well. Probably we can unload some more currency there.

Since grocery shopping and laundry will probably be the most exciting things to happen today, I may take tomorrow off from blogging. If I have something to share, I will. Otherwise, you can look for me on Saturday. We'll be heading due south by then, and we'll be traveling a different road. Hopefully, we'll find something interesting along the way.

I don't think you will have a problem with food as you clear US Customs. I don't even recall that ever being a question for us before. I'm enjoying coffee, beautiful scenery while virtually traveling with you this morning. I hope I don't break out in hives (Pineapple is the only thing I'm allergic to).

I love putting on pineapple tidbits on any pizza 🍕 I make, fresh or bought frozen. It really adds to the flavor so much 😻! I hope y’all find more interesting things to enjoy on your way home!

No fighting with me on the Hawaiian pizza. I love it. Pineapple is like candy when it's baked on a pizza. Yum!! I'm guessing you are now at the stage of being eager to get home again.

Pineapple and jalapenos are the perfect combination on a pizza. For me, the ham is unnecessary, but I'll allow it.

Well, I’m not a fighter, but I agree with the Italians. :-) But last week I tried a piece of pizza with chicken, barbecue sauce and cilantro and actually enjoyed it. It’s just when I can get the traditional pepperoni, sausage and veggies, it always is my first choice.

Hawaiian pizza with pineapple (and mandarin oranges) is one of my favorites from our local pizza shop, they call it the Happy Hawaiian. Hope you got in lots of R and R at this stop.
