Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day, my friends! If you are a mother, have a mother, or are missing your mother today, then I hope you have a wonderful day.

The family is coming for dinner tonight, and so I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. It means I spent much of the day in the kitchen yesterday. That's only worth mentioning because it means I don't have much to tell you today. If I wasn't cooking or doing laundry, I was busy reserving campsites for our trip this summer. We don't ordinarily travel before Labor Day, but we will this year. I didn't want to reserve the whole trip, but I wanted to get places to stay at least through the Labor Day weekend. Some of the places we're visiting are fairly remote, and so it wasn't easy always easy coming up with a spot.

It rained most of the day, but the kitties enjoyed a particle of sunshine that appeared early in the afternoon. Smitty prefers staying in the shade of the tree. Cats do not like sunscreen, and it's important to protect your furs from all that ultraviolet.

Sadie is simply appalled that I haven't planted my annuals yet.

It was Mike's birthday, and so I made him the "Yellow Dinner" mentioned in yesterday's post. You can find the recipe for this Lemon-herb Chicken Saute there. And you can plainly see the reason this dinner and its sides has always been referred to in our household as the "Yellow Dinner." I hadn't made this in quite some time, and so it was a treat.

There was no sewing yesterday, although I did make some progress on my slow-stitching. I don't expect to get much done today either. Most of the cooking is done for tonight's dinner, but I still need to set the table for six and tidy things up a little bit. If there's time, I'll get back to my Vintage Linen block, barely started.

I haven't planted my annuals either, LOL!! Somehow I just cannot seem to get to it with all that has been going on at my house. Your yellow dinner looks yummy.

Hope you had a great Mother's Day today even though you did have to cook a little! Mike's b-day dinner sounds great. Will definitely try that chicken dish.
