Something New

Let's just get on with calling it a New Day. Stand up...dust yourselves off...things are going to start getting better. I don't know about you, but I'm feeling better already. Oh wait...did you think I was talking about something happening on the other side of the country? Well, yes, there is that. But I'm also talking about finishing up my slow-stitching piece yesterday.

As I mentioned in a previous post, this is a free pattern from Lynette Anderson. I purchased the button packet when I downloaded the pattern. The buttons don't seem to be available in her shop any longer, and so I'm glad I purchased them when I did. I still need to sew on the buttons, but here they are laid out.

Eventually, I'll add a border to this to make a small wall-hanging. If memory serves, I have several choices of cute chicken fabric at home to finish it off.

Of course, I could not have completed this purroject without the best helpers in the whole RV park. Sadie kept my lap warm.

Smitty purrtrolled the area to my right.

So this morning, I'll get a start on the Quilt Shop piece. This one is redwork. It's a single quilt block from a block of the month pattern. I'm only doing just this one block.

"Excitement" was the theme for the 365 Picture Today challenge yesterday, and the weekly challenge is "Red." This was my post to Instagram for yesterday's theme. It's always exciting to start something new.

Around lunch time, we headed off to the grocery store. We offered Himself a walk before we left, but he declined. There are bunnies running around outside, and he thought watching them from the catio was the best way to spend his time.

We like it that here, in Pahrump, there is a Kroger-affiliated grocery store, and so we can use our rewards card from back home to get the same savings and points we would get if we were shopping at home. People seem to be respecting the mask mandate when we're out in public, even if things are a little lax here at the RV park. I was amused by the label on this brand of vodka.

On a different day, I might be breaking open a bottle. But hey! This is a new day. I think champagne might be in order...although I'll probably stick with diet coke if I'm going to do any sewing.

So today will probably be spent glued to the television. We're excited to see our new president and vice president sworn in. Crashing my bike and breaking my arm and thumb in December seemed like a fitting way to end the past four years. Healing is ongoing, but it's going to take some time. Chin up. It's a beautiful morning. Time for a fresh start on many fronts.

My you did Lynette's little piece up quickly. Must be the helpers. That's a lot of redwork but that is a very interesting piece. I'm watching the the ceremony today as well.

I’ve had the tv on almost all day watching the whole thing and feeling so much lighter in spirit and hopeful. Diverse, capable, intelligent, caring people in charge again. I know we have so much to do but I feel hopeful again. What a welcome feeling.

A fresh start indeed - and a huge sense of overwhelming relief. I don't live in the US of course but what has happened over the past four years has affected us as well. Not happy about one of the first orders being to stop the pipeline which will put thousands of Canadians out of work but we'll see how that pans out in the long run. Overall I look forward to seeing what the new president does to fix all the horror of the past four years.
(and I must say that fat chicken on the right makes me smile!).

Wow! What a difference the buttons will make. I, too, am pleased the spoilt child has left the building and the grown ups are back. It was good to see past Presidents together and looking so happy.

When talking to a friend she said "you sound giddy. I haven’t heard you sound so enthusiastic in a long time." Yep I’ve been in the doldrums. My spirits have lifted. There is finally hope.

Well, you zipped right through that stitching and did a fine job, too. Booze Brothers - haha! We watched the inauguration over lunch and then caught a bit more in the evening.

That label on the vodka bottle would make a cute mug rug or small quilt!!!

By day's end I did feel so encouraged about our democracy. I think watching the whole day was proper since I have been so disheartened by the leader and the many who sold their integrity to "yes " him. I slept better last night. Let the healing commence.
