So here's what happened, and I'll just cut and paste since it's way too painful to tell the story again:
Walking disaster: So, I get home from the grocery store, and I want to marinate a brisket in red wine and other goodies overnight to braise low and slow tomorrow afternoon. I don't have enough red wine in the bottle already opened, and so I open another bottle. Only, it's one of those with a screw top, and I'm damned if I can get the top off. So then I try getting the foil off, realizing fairly soon that I'm going to poke my eye out if I continue. So then I use our foil cutter, which very slickly takes the entire top of the bottle off. Oy. Now it's a very sharp bottle top, as you might guess. No problem, I say. I just pour myself a glass and finish off my marinade. I'm making the marinade in a gallon zip-lock bag, the way I always do, but then I realize that the brisket is too big to fit in said bag with the rest of the marinade. So then I get out a large oval casserole. Too small, of course, but I dirty a dish trying it on for size. So then I try the next size up. Big enough for the brisket, but not when I try to pour the marinade in. No problem. I get out yet a bigger bowl, and as I'm trying to retrieve the brisket from the red wine marinade, it slips from my fingers with a nice big splash, sending red wine marinade all over the floor and all over my clothes. Good thing I already had a glass of wine because I'm going to need more when that's gone. Good thing I'm done handling sharp objects for the evening.
Go ahead. Laugh your head off. (I'm watching, and I'm taking names, but don't let that bother you. You'll never see it coming. Oh yes. It will come.)
But that's okay. I'm feeling better since spying this out of my living room window this morning. I'm breathing in the peace and calm, and today will be a better day.
Some mornings we wake up in the sunshine, while the valley is in fog. Then, as I sit there, the fog rolls up the hill, obscuring the mountains, and I can watch it coming.
But the real reason I got on here this morning is because I wanted to tell you about a blogging event I heard about recently. Sewyouquilt2 is starting up a Relaxing Robin on her blog. It's a round robin without the stress of swapping. You'll do it all in your own sewing room on your own quilt according to the schedule she's set up...or skip the schedule...it's supposed to be relaxed, right? Looks like fun, and what a great way to get started on your January NewFO project!
Speaking of NewFO's, the December linky party went live this morning. Don't miss out on the last needle nanny of the year.
Okay...off to parts, pranks and phenomena unknown. (Not-so-Awesome Alliteration.)
