December NewFO Linky Party and Giveaway

It's here! The last NewFO Challenge of 2013! Do you hear that sound of 2013 being sucked down the drain? But how bad can it be with a whole new raft of UFO's in your sewing room, right? I mean, what else do you have to do? And I'm thinking that deserves a toast, don't you? Interestingly, I was just about to get all silly and find some image or something relating to drinking and quilting. Astonishingly, there actually IS a book on that very topic!

Who knew? If you look at the listing here on Amazon, you can see inside! What a hoot! Now, I'm saying the author, Lori Buhler, is a quilter after my own heart...especially when I spend too much time cozied up to my seam ripper. So, ahem, one might think I'd already imbibed, might one? Anyway...back to the challenge...

This last month of 2013, we are playing for the sheep needle nanny. Everyone who links up today will have a chance to win. No finishes required...just link up with any new projects you started during the month of December, finished or not.

So here's what I started in December: the "Raining Cats and Dogs" quilt. Here's what the whole quilt will look like when its finished (lo these many months from now):

For December, I made the first block (upper left hand corner of the quilt):

Cute, huh? I first saw this quilt made up when I attended the International Quilt Festival of Ireland in 2012. The pattern was sold out, so I purchased it online when I got home.

And that's it from me this month. Now I'm ready to see what you started during the month of December. Here are my simple and friendly requests before you link up:

1.  Please link-up with your newly started projects from December, finished or not.  If you feel like it, show us the progress you've made on any other previously posted NewFO projects.

2.  Please link back to this post from your blog.  Also, please link to your blog post, not your blog.  Links to entire blogs will be edited or deleted entirely.  Links provided for the sole purpose of promoting other events or shopping experiences will be deleted without apology.  (Sorry, but some folks can't seem to resist crashing the party.)

3.  Don't have a blog?  Upload an image to this FlickR group and link to that.  If you have questions about how to do that or about how to link up, please email me.  If you're having trouble posting your image, email it as an attachment, and I will be happy to post it for you.  Also know that it takes a bit for your thumbnail to appear, so don't despair.  It will appear eventually.  You might need to "refresh".

4.  Obviously, I need some way to contact you no matter how you link up.  No email address and no other way to contact you equals no entry in the giveaway.  Email me separately if you need to.

I'll leave this linky party open until one minute before midnight on Monday, January 6, 2014. Winner of the needle nanny will be announced on Tuesday, January 7, 2014!  We will ship anywhere in the universe, so international and interplanetary participants are always welcome! Except Pluto. Sorry, Plutonians. Your planetary status has been revoked.

Remember to "refresh" if you don't see your image right away. Here we go:

Mister Linky's Magical Widgets -- Thumb-Linky widget will appear right here!

I'm in the process of making a scrappy HST quilt for my big brother. The top should be done tomorrow. I have the backing and binding fabric on order. I'll have that next week and I can piece the back, sandwich and quilt it.

Haven't started anything big in awhile. Made a gaggle of aprons for Christmas gifts and just wanted to see something new around the house, instead of only sewing for others. And whaddyaknow, I also finished it.
I applaud all your sewing starts AND finishes. You go, grrl!

I am finally well enough to be online again, and would adore to be in the running for a book. But I took no pics and didnt do a thing but stay in bed for 2 weeks. LOL
I am getting 2014 organized as fast as I can with limited strength. Hope you have a great 2014.
