April NewFO Linky Party and Giveaway

2013NewFO

Sheesh!  Can you believe we're one third of the way through 2013 already?  But here in the Northern hemisphere, we're starting to move into the best weather of the year.  I guess I can be forgiving of the too-fast passage of time if it means enjoying the coming summer.

So now it's time to link up your new projects started during the month of April.  Everyone who links up with a new project, finished or not, will be entered to win this month's needle nanny prize.  This month's winner will receive the dragonfly:

Here are the new projects I worked on this month.  First, I completed a doll quilt for my partner in the April Doll Quilt Swap.

 Doll Quilters

This month's theme was "Happy Birthday" to celebrate the first anniversary of the Doll Quilt Swap.

Also, I started the Hello Moon QAL, which is available free online.  These are the first four blocks that have been posted.  I'm looking forward to seeing what May's block will be like.

Finally, I made the first five blocks for my "officially planned" April NewFO, the Hobo Quilt from the book by Debra Henninger.

The quilt I'm making contains sixty blocks, and so my goal is to make the blocks five at a time.  Making the colossally outlandish assumption that I will work on it once per month, I could have ("could" being the operative word) it finished in a year's time.  Here are the first five blocks.  You can read more about their meaning at my original post where I talk about the book and its origin.

As for my previous NewFO projects, I completed the Plain and Simple Amish sampler, which was my January, 2012, NewFO project.

Also, I completed the Line Dancing quilt, which was my March 2013 NewFO project.  This was a small wall-hanging, and so I worked on it from start to finish.

So, now I'm  ready to see what's new at your end.  To be eligible for the giveaway, here's what you need to do:

1.  Please link-up with your newly started projects from April, finished or not.  If you feel like it, show us the progress you've made on any other previously posted NewFO projects.

2.  Please link back to this post from your blog.  Also, please link to your blog post, not your blog.  To do that, just click on the title of your post to isolate it from the rest of your blog.  Then copy the URL and use that to link up.  Links to blogs will be edited or deleted entirely.  Also, this is not a place to advertise your Etsy shop or some other event.  To be clear, you may include references to other events in your post, but there should be something related to your NewFO's as well.  Cats, dogs, birds, fish, alligators, dinosaurs, rats, hamsters, children, and other pets are always welcome.  Links provided for the sole purpose of promoting other events or shopping experiences will be deleted without apology.  (Sorry, but some folks can't seem to resist crashing the party.)

3.  Don't have a blog?  Upload an image to this FlickR group and link to that.  If you have questions about how to do that or about how to link up, please email me.  If you're having trouble posting your image, email it as an attachment, and I will be happy to post it for you.  Also know that it takes a bit for your thumbnail to appear, so don't despair.  It will appear eventually.  You might need to "refresh".

4.  Obviously, I need some way to contact you no matter how you link up.  No email address and no other way to contact you equals no entry in the giveaway.  Email me separately if you need to.

This giveaway ends one week from today.  Winner of the needle nanny will be announced on Tuesday, May 7, 2013!  We will ship anywhere in the universe, so international and interplanetary participants are welcome!

Those Hello Moon block have a lot of impact when grouped all together, love those. You've done a good job of finishing up a lot of your NewFOs. Love Your Amish sampler more every time you show it.

I only posted one of my Newfos this month, two are top secret until they are gifted to my new Granddaughters the end of Summer. Thanks for enabling us every month to start something NEW!

Not much to show for the month, and I guess it'll be that way much of the summer!

I really love your moon blocks :) You make so many lovely things! I didn't start anything all that big this month, which is weird, because I thought I had! But actually all the big things I worked on this month were started in March. I made a few smaller things to break up the bigger projects, so I made mosaic of them and put it in your flickr group :)

I adore! your laundry quilt. So cute!

I didn't know there was a secret language for riding the rails. That will be such a neat quilt. I hope you will have a post to explain more about it.

Your comment entry is very subtle. my addy is on my about page to compensate for google's lack of cooperation. I do find browsing NewFOs fun.

Love that in #3 your mind us we may need to Refresh to see our avatar photo. I have been impatient a few times before I realized that little gem of info.

Gosh, how great to see so many folks linked up - I'm #51!

Your FMQ is getting better & better every month - love it on the doll quilt. :D
I think the hedgehog block of the Hello Moon blocks is my favorite. I might have to try just that one to send to my friend's daughter who has a pet hedgehog.
