Miscsewllaneous

It was a nice relaxing day today.  Mike came home early from work.  They've been under the gun and he's been working long hours during the week.  This being Good Friday, a lot of folks had gone home, and so he came home early too.  What the heck?

As for me, I did a lot of miscellaneous catching up things today.  For one thing, I spent a good hour organizing my collection of quilt patterns.  Most of them are freebies I've printed off the internet.  I keep them in thick binders.  Sometimes I need to move categories around because a binder will get too full.  Recently, I bought a couple of new binders, and I had about a two-inch thick stack of patterns to file away.  They're all put away now and rearranged so they'll be easier to work with.  Not that I'll ever look at them again, you understand.  And I'm betting you do.

Anyhoo, I did get in a little sewing too.  Remember that one of the four patches in this True Hope quilt was turned the wrong way.  I fixed that.  See?

All better now.  That didn't take very long, but I was dreading it nonetheless.

Then, I made a little name tag for my guild meetings.  So far, I've been going to the meetings without one, but now that I am officially a member, I'll get fined a quarter if I don't have one.  And goodness knows, a quarter would buy a lot of fabric, so I wouldn't want to get fined.  I used the fancy stitches on my new sewing machine, and that meant actually programming them in.  I learned to do this at my class, and I remembered how to do it without even looking at the instructions!

The little quilt block at the top is a magnetic needle nanny.  I've talked about them many times on my blog, and I give one away each month as a part of the NewFO Challenge.  Someone wondered if they would hold a name tag on, and they will!  Great idea!  So that's how I'll attach my name tag to my clothes.

And Mike brought me some calla lilies when he came home.  What a sweet guy!  Aren't these pretty?

And he cut the dowel so that I could finish, once and for all, Matthew's quilt.  And my hanging system worked perfectly.

Here it is hanging on the wall.  Take a good look and say good-bye because this one will be going to its new home with Matthew on Sunday.

And that's it from me for today.  You'll want to read Smitty's post if you keep up with the cats at the Three Cats Ranch.  We had some excitement here today!

They'll know you are the kitty lady. Gorgeous flowers. I finally stopped printing out my patterns after I filled up a whole cabinet. Keep them on the computer and hope it doesn't crash. I too rarely look back to see what I have.

Hmm, now I'm gonna have to make another name tag, though if I wait another 8 months mine will be back in season again! The needle nanny sure beats quilting safety pins too.

Good Friday and Easter Monday are what we call public holidays here so WM is home for four days! He won't be resting though; all hands are needed to prepare DD's family home for moving and the rental market. Today was paving and digging and concreting; Monday will be more landscaping.

Does you new machine fancy stitches include those little cats? They're so cute and see why you would need this machine.

Sharon expressed my sentiments exactly.

(sigh)I so love that quilt. It will be loved, I just know it!! Those lilies are so beautiful and appropriate for the season.... Sounds like you got a ton of things off your "to do" list, such a wonderful feeling! The name tag/"pin" is looking really good (can't have that fine eating into your fabric allowance, hmmmmmm?) Easter Blessings, Doreen
