So here's what happened.
Me and the Fam, you know, my mom, dad, and Gracie were outside enjoying the sunshine. Gracie discovered the new crop of catnip that just started growing. Gracie and I like our catnip almost as much as we like our cat food.
And we were checking out the birds. I like birds too. This here guy is a Northern Flicker. They are big birds. My mom says they like the suet she puts out for them.
And we were sniffing around the daffodils too.
And I'm just kind of minding my own business, when
Holy Moley!
It's that cat Gracie told me about! Uno!
There used to be a superhero cat that lived here at the Three Cats Ranch whose name was Captain Cattastic. Captain Cattastic hated Uno. Gracie says Uno was the Captain's Evil Nemesis, and whoa! I can see why. That's one big cat! Well, don't you know that got my back furs standing on end.
And I put on my sneakiest, sneak 'em up feet, and started the sneaky, eeky, crawl toward that big bruiser.
I was stretching myself out as stretchy as I could go, trying to get my nose closer for a sniff, but keeping my feet far away for leaping. Just in case he got all scaredy cat on me, and I had to chase him down, you know.
And he just kept looking at me, and looking sort of bored. Like he wasn't scared or anything. And I'm pretty tough, so I just think that cat must be a little touched in the head, you know?
And I crept up closer...
And closer...
And then that cat started talking trash to me. Can you imagine? That takes some whiskers, I'll tell you.
And then he just stretched out his arms and settled into the grass, like he doesn't have a care in the world!
And I got up real close and sniffed his toes, just to check out what kind of job he does on his toe jam, you know? Because any cat worth anything knows to keep his toe jam in check.
And, "Hey," I says. This guy doesn't seem so bad. And he definitely passes the toe jam test. So me, nice guy that I am, I invited him up onto the patio to have a little nip with me. Mmmmmmmmm. Nip. I loves me my nip.
So I'll share it with him as a sort of welcome to the neighborhood kind of thing.
Snorfle, snuff, nomb. Unless I eat it all first.

I'm just glad Smitty my boy, that the big guy on the block was in a social mood. Oh, fresh nip - Bella and Moe are so jealous right now!
Oh Smitty! You're such a nice gentleman cat :*) Not every cat shares its nip!
LOL! Smitty you always maake me smile! Play nice!
Amazing how some could nip can make a good friend out of an enemy. I hope this turns into a longterm friendship!
Purrfect post! Love it!

Ah Smitty, you would love the goings on around here, we have at least six "Uno's" who come visiting on a regular basis - and we don't even have any nip growing right now, but flickers and jays we have aplenty!
The start of a great friendship?
Smitty writes a great post for a Friday afternoon with adrenalin attached. Uno really strikes me as a sweet meow-man; maybe he's playing a part in order to worm into Smitty's good graces. Hmmm....
Happy Easter to all the inhabitants of Three Cats - I hope the bunny is good to you. I helped it along to day with a Hershey's fix from Walgreens.
what a thoroughly delightful post! It is amazing how you were able to get all those phenomenal pictures at just the correct angle to further the storyline along.
Well done! :-)
You're so funny! Big smile here!
Great post!!! Enjoyed reading it while waiting for my first cup of coffee of the day to finish brewing.
Thanks!

Thanks!
I was just wondering about evil Uno the other day, so do you think they might become friends?
Aaaah, Smitty--you're such a cutie! You remind me so much of my own furboy Oliver. He has a friend in our neighborhood and they are always off on adventures together... the humans are okay, but it's great to have fur friends too! :-)
OMG I'm laughing my arse off here. Yo Mr Smitty are one faublous feline. Love all the pictures!
Great commentary on those felines - love it! You get the nicest birds - how pretty is he! We only get sparrows, robins, a rare cardinal or goldfinch, maybe a bluejay now and then. Did see a woodpecker this morning, though!
Oh Smitty you are such fun. I'm pleased you have learnt to make your own decisions about folks rather than relying on gossip (even if it was from Gracie) and that you remembered that how a guy deals with his toe jam speaks volumes about his character. Try not to overdo the nip so early in the season it needs time to grow big and bushy.
I made my husband look at this frame by frame! I can actually see the scene in my head- how funny. The catnip is great, I've got a little wild patch that came from somewhere. Some of my cats love it and it has no appear to others. Not sure why.
You are certainly one lucky kitty, Smitty. The fact that you didn't get your ears boxed is amazing. I think you and Uno will become good friends.
Thanks Smitty for brightening my day! I hope UNO doesn't eat all your catnip while you are inside inspecting quilts ;-)
I'm thinking that you will have to plant a LOT more catnip to keep those kitties happy.
Good to see that you've made a new friend!
How wonderful this was for me, I expected the b/w cat to hiss. but Smitty was just so in control-saw that high fur line down his back-lol. confidense! how it made my day-thanks

Smitty, not only are you handsome, you are also very brave! You look so big and fierce that Uno wouldn't dare try to mess with you!
Smitty, you are so nice to Uno! Mom said he was cute, but we think you are cuter.
Angel and Kirby
LOL! Where does Uno live?
tee hee too cute!
