Lots of Cats

George just blogged about the new cat we've seen in our field.  Very cool!

We've had three bobcat sightings in the field in the past three days.  Yesterday (sighting number two), I nearly broke my neck running for the camera, but I was too late.  (Isn't that the way with photography?  It's like trying to get nice sharp points in quilting.)  So then I kept the camera handy just . . . in . . . case.  I was pretty sure that meant we'd never see it again.  But then, Mike looked out his office window and there he was!

Doesn't he have the most beautiful coat?  We've actually seen two different ones.  The one is the smaller one, and he/she's about the size of a domestic house cat.  But we've also seen one that I presume is the mom of this one, and she's at least twice as big as George is.

I was a fair distance away when I took these pictures, but when he heard the shutter on the camera, he (she?) looked right at me.  I spoke to him, but he didn't seem too concerned.  Then after a couple of minutes, he turned and ran off.  I can only think this pair must be living close by for us to see them so frequently.

And just to show you I'm not kidding about there being "lots" of cats today, I picked up my "Let Sleeping Cats Lie" quilt from my quilter, Tammi, yesterday.  Honestly, I feel so fortunate to have a quilter who does such consistently fine work.  I love that I can turn a quilt over to her and then just wait to be thrilled.

I totally had the wrong lens when I took these because the camera was lying in wait for the bobcat.  The design Tammi used is called the Cat's Garden, which is practically the same name as the design in the border fabric.  (As I recall, the name of the fabric is the Cat's Secret Garden.)  There are some stalking cats in the quilting design with flowers on their tails.  It's very cute, but I'll save those images for when I get it bound and I can show you the whole quilt.

In order for her to do such good work, she had to have your work to do so...and it is your design that made the quilt!
It is a beauty! I adore your work! Have a good weekend! Hugs

Great pictures of the bobcat. How neat to see one/several.

I'm so jealous of your resident bobcat(s)! I've only seen one just once as it crossed a road in front of us up by the Lyre River on the Olympic Peninsula. Those long legs really set it apart from anything else we've ever seen. Beautiful!

That is too cool! I would love to have a bobcat in my backyard but we don't have them here in NZ. You are so lucky! Mind you, judging from the noise the dog next door is making, I suspect one of my cats is currently flirting with him from the top of the fence and I suspect Zorro, Flash and Fluff would come of worse than a good deafening if they came across a bobcat! How do your cats react to them? Any problems?

I agree, very cool bobcat! Your cat quilt is looking fine too. It is a joy to find someone that does a great job on one's quilts. Tammi does a great job.

How thrilling to have such beautiful visitors to your field. I hope George keeps a safe distance away from them. Love the quilting on your cat quilt!!

Wow, he/she is gorgeous. I haven't read George's post, but I'm off to find him. I hope he's staying safe.

The bobcat sure has beautiful coloring. I've seen a few, but I don't recall them being quite so showy!
Tammi triumphs again! Can hardly wait to see the whole quilt...
