A New Teaser

Good morning, my friends. We survived our grocery shopping trip yesterday. We even managed to walk to and from the car without getting wet. The rain paused for a bit in the morning, but it'll be back in full swing today, along with plenty of wind. As always, I just want the power to stay on.

After lunch, I as able to make my way to the sewing room. On yesterday's agenda was to get started on the third of six rows for the Gumballs quilt. I have several scrappy quilts on my WIPs list these days, and they always start with plenty of cutting. I'm only working with red, pink, and purple for this quilt, and these are the pieces I needed.

The next step was to make 20 half square triangles and five 4-patches.

That pretty well took up the whole of my sewing day. Before turning off the lights, I laid the pieces out as they'll appear in the blocks. Today, I'm hoping to get them all sewn together.

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I'm making a "secret" project for a friend who reads my blog. I selected the fabrics I'll use.

Yep...'fraid so. 'Tis the season. Maybe I'm a little ahead of the game, but you know how Christmas has a way of creeping up on us. This project will be quick to make. There is both hand and machine stitching. I started on the hand-stitching while we watched the news last night. Here's your peek.

I should be able to finish the hand-stitching today, and then I'll get busy sewing it all together.

If I can finish the Gumballs today, I'll move on to the next block for the Raggedy & Friends project. I've already finished the embroidery for the next block.

These are all the blocks I have for this quilt so far.

Also today I want to get in a Bowflex workout, and I have some housework to do. As always it's a busy day ahead.

Just now I'm going to eat some breakfast and get busy with my slow-stitching. Probably I have a few more days before I'll finish my current project. After that, I'll get started on the new "short" piece I'll be stitching.

It'll be a colorful piece to brighten these gray days. Oh yes, and I just remembered...I need to choose a project for November's

It seems a stretch since I haven't even selected a background fabric, but I'll make stitching My Embroidered Garden my goal for the month. I won't turn it into a finished quilt just yet, but finishing the embroidery will be a good start.

That's so pretty. I'll be on the lookout for this finish (in a few days? tee hee, you're so speedy).
