Good morning, my friends. We find ourselves at a Yukon Government Campground this morning. We considered this campground when we drove through in the other direction, but then pulled into one we found earlier. With their positions reversed for our return trip, we found plenty of room at Snag Junction.
We passed by Teslin Lake as we left Tok.
There was nothing new beyond what I've already talked about in my previous post. The only difference was that we bypassed the US Customs station. Canada's was still 20 miles down the road near Beaver Creek.
Despite the location of their customs station, we crossed the border into Yukon Territory here. (When we came the opposite direction, we stopped here to take a picture in front of the Welcome to Alaska sign.)
The road was open, but as we passed by, we could see flames burning right next to the road. Our luck at missing the wildfire delays is holding so far.
It was perhaps another 15 miles before we reached Canadian customs. Here, we had a bit of a wait while cars and RVs ahead of us passed through.
Once we reached the agent, our stop was short, although this was the first place we were required to show rabies vaccine records for the kitties.
From here, it was about 20 more miles to our campground. After passing through the fire area, we worried a little that it wouldn't be safe at the campground. As it turns out, we are many miles down the road, so nothing to worry about. Also, it’s raining.
Smitty took one look at the outdoors, and then he wanted to don his activewear for a little look-see.
He was happy for another sampling of this Mewkon grass. He likes Catnada. He could live here.
So we'll be moving on again today. We'll be staying in another Yukon Government campground tonight, and we have a reservation for this one. By tomorrow we'll reach Whitehorse. We'll get some groceries in Whitehorse, and spend an extra day there. From Whitehorse, we'll be turning south and traveling the Cassiar Highway, also known as British Columbia Hwy 37. We'll be covering new ground from there as we make our way toward home.
Don't start unpacking just yet. We still have a lot of miles to cover between hither and yon. There will be lots more to see before the end of our trip.

I'm glad Smitty likes Catnada, but now I'm curious how he tells you he wants to go outdoors. Does he simply say MeOutDoors?
Loved “MeOutDoors”, dgs! The Cassiar Highway looks really interesting, and beautiful, but you might have to miss the best of the Skeena River. Or take a boat south from Prince Rupert. My husband and I took a rail trip along the Skeena, many years ago. Dot in NC
I hope your luck holds out for avoiding those wildfires. Maybe the rain will help put out some of those fires.
