Good morning, my friends. I'm happy to report that I'm feeling fine this morning. Nothing but a sore arm from our vaccines yesterday. We were both kind of tired last night. I'm not sure if it was the vaccine or the morning's worth of excitement that wore us out, but we were both falling asleep in front of the TV last night.
So, when I left you yesterday, I was getting ready to leave with Mike to get our COVID boosters. It's about a half-hour drive into town for us, and we were halfway there when the pharmacy called to tell us they didn't have a supply of vaccine. They were expecting some later in the day, but had none to give us for our scheduled appointment. Hmph. I wish they'd called sooner. As it was, we had errands to run in town, and so we just continued on our way, figuring we'd reschedule the vaccines for another day.
We made our designated stops, and that included a short grocery trip. The pharmacy where we were to get our vaccines is located inside the grocery store. We'd done everything we came to do, and we were pulling out of the parking lot when the pharmacy called again to tell us the vaccine had arrived! Yay! We could get it all accomplished without needing to come back another day!
And...well...that's a pretty exciting morning for two septuagenarians. When we were home again, we both took naps. (You never doubted it, did you?) Since I'd missed my slow stitching, I did that first, finishing off the Oregano block.
Here are the two blocks I have for this quilt so far. This morning, I'll start on the Rosemary block.
By then, I was ready to get on with my sewing day. Smitty was there to help.
Sadie, my usual sewing helper, was waiting in the wings. She's trying to let Smitty learn the finer points of sewing.
This fifth of five Easter eggs was pretty fiddly to sew together. I think there must be an easier way to do this.
As it is, my points were cut off in some places. This isn't going to win any quilting competitions, but that's a big "oh well." Besides, I heard that the Quilt Police have been DOGEd. They were all fired when they couldn't come up with five things they'd accomplished last week. Clearly, they weren't on the job when I sewed this piece together.
Sadie regrets she wasn't more "paws on" for this part of the purroject. I'm sure it would have worked out better if she'd been paying attention.
But we just forged on ahead, cutting an egg from that piece above and fusing it to the background.
That was the last egg I need in order to sew this into a flimsy. Here are all five eggs together.
Today I'll top-stitch them. The pattern would have me using invisible thread, but I've decided to use a rayon thread in the color of the background. These are already so colorful, a little more color around the edges of the eggs won't hurt. When they're top-stitched, I'll sew them into a runner and add borders. Probably I won't get this to quilting stage today, but maybe by tomorrow I'll have it that far.
So we didn't make any plans for today, not knowing how we'd be feeling. It'll be nice to have an unhurried stay-at-home day. I plan to do a lot of sewing. What's on your to-do list today?

Today will find me working on a faced binding for a recent quilt finish and hoping to catch a glimpse of baby eaglets on a webcam.
To do list? Yard work and more yard work. Ugh. Can't wait for your quilt shop adventure. I have a lot of "to be quilted" pile. I think that picture of Smitty was really saying that you left him (when you ran errands) and it was totally unacceptable. Our pets tell us the same thing. Sunny today. Loving it.
So glad you didn't have a bad reaction to the vaccine. Your Easter eggs turned out beautifully. That's going to be a fun runner to finish.
I plan to spend the day trying to put things away in my sewing room. This is more a result of warranty repairs and new flooring vs mess during sewing projects. But either way, my sewing room needs some attention before I can start my Easter theme projects.
