Good morning, my friends. It was a rare no-sewing day yesterday. We had some errands to run in town, including picking up our fifth wheel from the shop where repairs have been under way for months. Finally, the fifth wheel is back home where it belongs. The slides might be moving more smoothly than they did when it was new. As it turns out, some water damage had caused the floor under the heaviest of the slides to sag, and that was creating some drag on the whole unit as we brought it in and out. The bedroom slide had some other issue (different mechanism). It's all fixed now, and those slides move like they're running on butter. Nice.
So it seemed like kind of a tedious reason for an outing. We turned it into a date by having lunch at one of our favorite casual restaurants. This was the one restaurant we came to during the pandemic. There's a nice outdoor seating area, good service, reasonable prices, and good food. As we walked in from the parking lot, I took pictures of the blooming things we saw along the way. My phone tells me that this first one is laurustinus...a type of viburnum. (I should have known this. We had it at our previous home.)
Also, my phone tells me these are pear blossoms. The were on a large tree that shades the outdoor seating area.
Nearer the door were some planter boxes with pansies.
Inside, there were some vases of cut flowers. I had the feeling these next ones were store-bought.
But these looked as if they might have come from someone's garden.
On our table...a double daffodil. I'm loving all the blooming things right now. They're so hopeful and uplifting.
We each had a hard berry cider to start.
Mike had a burger. I had this yummy smoked turkey sandwich. It had some bacon, and arugula, and some tart cherry jam. There was some kind of garlicky aioli on it too. Also, onion rings. Yum. I brought half the sandwich home, but I ate
all the onion rings.
Back home, the only sewing I did yesterday was slow-stitching. I filled the hoop I was working on...
And then moved it to the right. I'm about halfway with this.
The kitties didn't get much time outdoors yesterday between rain and us being gone. Sadie toasted her tummy in the afternoon sunshine.
She was the picture of bliss.
So we ended up having a pretty good day, even if it was a day of running errands. I'm
very happy to have the fifth wheel home again, even though we probably won't be using it again until next winter. We'll be taking our truck camper when we go to Alaska. I'll say more about that as the time grows nearer...and the time is growing nearer, my friends. When we head out on a trip like this, I feel nervous about it until the day approaches. Then, the nervousness turns into excitement. The feeling is starting to turn with the coming of April.
Today is Sewturday, and so I've reserved the day for nothing but sewing. I'll get back to the quilting for Jericho Walls. Now, here I have to say I've been confused about the name of this quilt block.
Was it Jerichos Wall? Jericho's Wall? Jericho Walls? So just as I wrote those words, I looked it up. "Jericho Walls" is the correct name for the block, and so I'll start calling it that. And nobody really cares, but when I learned to quilt, part of the allure was knowing that the traditional quilt blocks all had names. I have a picture in my mind of a pioneer woman (or someone) creating a quilt block and deciding on a name for it. So, I like to use the right names when I'm talking about them our of respect for those women.
Also, I've missed a day of tracing on the embroidered sections of the Raggedy & Friends quilt. I'll catch up by doing two today. And, hopefully, I can get back to sewing the blocks together for The Story of My Day. There are leftovers for dinner, and so it's going to be all sewing all the time. And doncha know that makes for a very good day. I hope you have a good day planned for yourself. Join me for Sewturday if you like. And if you've enjoyed reading this post, you can thank Smitty for his careful over-my-shoulder editing.

You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand. ~ Woodrow Wilson
I have enjoyed the post, so thank you Smitty! It’s good to know the proper name because names matter……especially since this is one of my favorites you’ve made :)
Yes, where would we be without our Smitty and his talents? 😻
Our pear tree started blooming 2 weeks ago and is beautiful. We worked on getting a wired trellis up for the boysenberries and they already have blooms ❤️. The blueberries 🫐 are blooming as well.
You are going to have a wonderful trip!😻
Sound like you made the most of your errand day, lunch looks delicious. Hope you made lots of progress during your NBS day.
I love ya Smitty, but you missed one!
I hope you enjoyed a lovely day of sewing!
