Good morning, my friends. It feels as if not much got done yesterday, although I did do everything on my list. I did my one assigned housekeeping chore. I did a Bowflex workout. I did some sewing. I did some slow-stitching. I baked some biscotti. Still...I had just four pictures on my camera when they were uploaded just now. So, I did some stuff...apparently nothing worth documenting. It's okay. Isn't the day after Thanksgiving supposed to be lazy? Aren't we all in a tryptophan coma? I mean...look at these two:
The weather turned chilly overnight, and they decided this was at the top of their to-do list. What are you going to do when your helper cats desert you? Well. I'll tell you what I did. I baked some Cranberry, Orange, and White Chocolate Biscotti. And let me just tell you, these are so good. We're having a hard time limiting ourselves to just one with our morning coffee.
Making biscotti isn't difficult, but it is a bit of a process. They go into and out of the oven three times before they're finished, and so it takes some time. I didn't mind. It gave me plenty of time for doom scrolling, although I'm trying to avoid the "doom" in my doom scrolling right at the moment.
When the biscotti was out of the oven for the last time and cooling, I went to work on the next item on my WIPs list...the Scrappy Plus quilt blocks. I want to make four this time around, and then I'll need four more next time to finish all the blocks.
They'll still need trimming, and then I'll be ready to lay out the various pieces for the quilt blocks. And if you can remember the last time I worked on this...it's a time-consuming puzzle sewing them together. Just getting them laid out properly takes time.
So I wouldn't expect to finish more than two of these today. More than likely, one will be my limit. Expect me to be working on this for at least the next couple of days. I do like this quilt, though. I'm looking forward to sewing the blocks into a finished quilt top.
We need to make a trip into town for some errands today. We're completely out of milk, and so we'll make a quick stop at the grocery store. I'm hearing there's an egg shortage right now. If I can find eggs, I'll get some. There's baking to be done! Tis the season! Baking waits for no chickens to lay their eggs. Get with it, ladies! (Actually, it's this avian flu business. Worrisome, isn't it?)
Aside from grocery stuff, we need to make a couple more stops before we can head for home. I'm thinking we might stop for lunch, and I can't say I won't break my one-McRib-per-offering rule. It's Christmas, right? And, if I'm not mistaken, I believe I made Santa's "nice" list this year, despite the number of bad words I've hurled at a certain president-elect. Santa doesn't like him any more than I do. Besides, I don't discriminate. I hurl bad words at most all politicians.
In addition to running some errands, I have one housekeeping task on today's list. Still, there should be plenty of time for sewing. And just now, I'm heading down to do my slow-stitching. We're going out among The English today. It's best if I spend some time zen stitching.

You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand. ~ Woodrow Wilson
I like today’s quote. And I like the Scrappy Plus quilt. It’s been really cold here on the Atlantic coast, too. It was 28 degrees when I got up this morning, and the high was 49. I had Thanksgiving with my daughter’s family, and came home with leftovers. Glad I don’t need to go out! Dot in NC
Thank you for the link to the biscotti - copied it and will compare it with the one we used and probably opt for yours in the future (only with dark chocolate!).
Those napping kitties look so peaceful. Sounds like you got lots done even if you don't have photo documentation.
The cats have the right idea on these cold winter mornings (and they've only begun!). I can see how that block can get easily mixed up, but I really like them!
