Bring on Christmas

Good morning, my friends. I don't know about you, but I'm beginning to think I know what a turkey feels like after it's been stuffed. We had a wonderful dinner with Erik and Mae yesterday. What a feast! Erik brined the turkey in a buttermilk and herb brine, and then smoked it on his barbecue. It was so moist and delicious. Mae prepared all the favorite side dishes, including some newbies to our Thanksgiving table.

This was my plate. Starting at the top, you see turkey and gravy. Moving clockwise, you see sweet potatoes, two kinds of cranberries, burgundy mushrooms, green bean casserole, and stuffing. Mmm, mmm, mmm.

She made two desserts. Her apple tart is a work of art. Just to the right, you can see her pumpkin cheesecake. Everything was delicious.

The only sewing accomplished yesterday was to add a little more stitching to the covered bridge block.

And we put up the tree. Yeah, that's my kind of decorating. Remove the picture that usually hangs there...replace it with a Christmas tree quilt.

We now have Christmas quilts hanging and lying all over the house. You can see the rest of the collection at this post. The only newbie was this little "Hanging the Christmas Lights" quilt finished earlier this year. Erik made that little snowman in about the third grade. The little quilt gives him a friend and a home.

Also, in our downstairs renovations of a couple of years ago, we turned this big wall into a place where I can display larger quilts. I change them out seasonally. We hung the Gingerbread Square quilt there yesterday. This is one of my favorite quilts.

Aside from eating, that pretty well sums up the day.

For today, I'll be sure to get in a Bowflex workout, and I have one easy housekeeping chore on the to-do list. Mostly I'll be sewing today, but I'm also thinking of making some more biscotti. If I'm feeling really energetic, I might do that too. 

We've already had our breakfast this morning, and so I'm heading off to do some more work on my slow-stitching today. It's feeling like a good day to relax for the most part, and that's exactly what I'm going to do. What about you? Are you ready to move on to Christmas now?
