Good morning, my friends. I don't know about you, but I'm beginning to think I know what a turkey feels like after it's been stuffed. We had a wonderful dinner with Erik and Mae yesterday. What a feast! Erik brined the turkey in a buttermilk and herb brine, and then smoked it on his barbecue. It was so moist and delicious. Mae prepared all the favorite side dishes, including some newbies to our Thanksgiving table.
This was my plate. Starting at the top, you see turkey and gravy. Moving clockwise, you see sweet potatoes, two kinds of cranberries, burgundy mushrooms, green bean casserole, and stuffing. Mmm, mmm, mmm.
She made two desserts. Her apple tart is a work of art. Just to the right, you can see her pumpkin cheesecake. Everything was delicious.
The only sewing accomplished yesterday was to add a little more stitching to the covered bridge block.
And we put up the tree. Yeah, that's my kind of decorating. Remove the picture that usually hangs there...replace it with a Christmas tree quilt.
We now have Christmas quilts hanging and lying all over the house. You can
see the rest of the collection at this post. The only newbie was this little "Hanging the Christmas Lights" quilt finished earlier this year. Erik made that little snowman in about the third grade. The little quilt gives him a friend and a home.
Also, in our downstairs renovations of a couple of years ago, we turned this big wall into a place where I can display larger quilts. I change them out seasonally. We hung the Gingerbread Square quilt there yesterday. This is one of my favorite quilts.
Aside from eating, that pretty well sums up the day.
For today, I'll be sure to get in a Bowflex workout, and I have one easy housekeeping chore on the to-do list. Mostly I'll be sewing today, but I'm also thinking of making some more biscotti. If I'm feeling really energetic, I might do that too.
We've already had our breakfast this morning, and so I'm heading off to do some more work on my slow-stitching today. It's feeling like a good day to relax for the most part, and that's exactly what I'm going to do. What about you? Are you ready to move on to Christmas now?

I like to compare the holiday season with the way a child listens to a favorite story. The pleasure is in the familiar way the story begins, the anticipation of familiar turns it takes, the familiar moments of suspense, and the familiar climax and ending. ~ Fred Rogers
I love the way you decorate for the holiday

I have always liked your gingerbread cottage quilt. I got to see it in person the year you have it at the expo center show (2017?).
Oh wait you call in Gingerbread square I just think of it as cottages.
Barbara, I could smell your dinner yesterday all the way to New Mexico. What a beautiful feast you had. So nice to be with family this time of year. Thank you for sharing what Mr. Roger’s had to say about the holidays. 🤗
I think I saw this bridge in the movie Bridges of Madison County. Or am I wrong?
Your tree quilt is the perfect touch. I want to put up my tree but it may not happen this year without some assistance. Your feast looked extremely delicious. My son-in-law Did a great job again this year and we came home fully satisfied and carrying leftovers.
Your TG dinner looks delicious. Cute Christmas quilts, love the Gingerbread Square. Hanging the Christmas Lights is a cutie and so is the snowman!
Erik and Mae did good with dinner. It's easy to see why "stuffed" was a predominate feeling after that meal. Love your Christmas quilts, the Gingerbread Square is one of my favorites you've made recently. We started our Christmas shopping yesterday. So I guess we've moved on to that holiday already.
The feast you had looks awesome! I love the snowman from 3rd grade and little quilt together. We had rainbow trout and vegan meatballs for a change. Hard news that night, my friend was yelling for help in the fire and they were overcome by the smoke before passing. Hard to accept but she’s safe in heaven now.
That table looks like a real feast! Yum. Best of all is time spent with family. We did our decorating yesterday so enjoyed turning the tree lights on last night. The tree looks rather bare by day so today I'm going to make some little ornies to tuck here and there. I flatly refuse to buy anything more for decor but found some pretty buttons, broken jewelry and beads so I think I can make some quick little things and use them up.
Your family does know how to put on a feast - yum! Our tree is up, the rest of the decorating will happen tomorrow.
