Signing Off...For Real

Good morning, my friends. Well, you knew I couldn't leave without flapping my lips one more time, didn't you? Actually, I couldn't leave without taking the last sewing pictures off my camera. Who knows what might happen if my sewing pictures and camping pictures were left to mingle on the same memory card for several days? I hate to even think about it. Well. Worry no more because here they are.

The day was mostly spent cooking. I made Frozen Breakfast Burritos, Overnight Lasagna (I make half and assemble it in a 8 x 8 baking dish), and I cut up the vegetables and meat for a slow cooker stew. I'll start that tomorrow morning, and there will be leftovers for when we get home.

Cooking took most of the day, but I had enough time to add the sashings to the blocks for The Story of My Day. This one is "Dessert for Me!"

This one is "Turn My Eyes Square."

Here are the 14 blocks I have for this quilt so far.

Okay, so I said this would be a quick check-in, and it will be. The food is all packed, but we're both still needing to pack our personal items. I'll be taking two stitching projects. The weather is still forecast to be dry today and tomorrow. And let me just tell you, dry weather is a gift at this time of the year. It's pretty sure to rain on Wednesday, but then it will be dry again for our drive home on Thursday.

Before we went to bed last night, I started some overnight oatmeal. It's waiting downstairs for me to finish it off. We'll have our breakfast and then we'll get packing. We ride at noon. Stay out of trouble while I'm gone, okay? I'll be back no later than Saturday morning.

Far from the luxuries of home, camp life forces a slower, more thoughtful approach to living. Mornings are savored. Coffee is sipped rather than drained. Making meals is less a chore and more an event. An evening stroll replaces the nightly TV hypnosis. In short, for a few fleeting days, we are briefly, blissfully, beautifully human again. ~ Mark Kenyon

What size jars of spag sauce do you use? Sounds like an easy dish. Have fun and stay dry on your trip!

The 'turning eyes square' made me laugh because my mother always said that exact thing about tv watching. Not only that, she insisted that the tv had to be 'up on something' so that it didn't encourage double chins. Yes, my mother was an eccentric!
