Occupy Your Sewing Room Begins Saturday with a Fourth Prize Added

Will you be joining us next week?  Several occupy members have suggested having snacks and coffee ready so you won't get hungry during the day.  Chocolate is an especially popular suggestion!  And just so you won't have to interrupt your sewing room occupation to cook, I'm giving you my Overnight Lasagna recipe.  You can make this up a day ahead and then pop it in the oven for dinner the next day.  Save yourself even more time by using no-bake lasagna noodles!  Add a side of garlic toast or a salad, and you've got yourself a fast dinner.

Overnight Lasagna

recipe adapted from www.BettyCrocker.com
Servings:  8

1 pound  ground beef
1 medium onion (about 1/2 cup) -- chopped
1 clove  garlic -- minced
2 jars Commercial spaghetti sauce
12 lasagna noodle (about 12 oz) -- uncooked
1 container cottage cheese (12 oz.)
2 cups  Mozzarella cheese (8 oz.) -- shredded
1/4 cup  Parmesan cheese -- grated

Cook and stir ground beef, onion and garlic in Dutch oven until beef is brown; drain.  Stir in spaghetti sauce.  Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally; reduce heat.

Spread 2 cups of the sauce mixture in an ungreased rectangular baking dish, 13x9x2 inches.  Top with 4 noodles.  Spread half of the cottage cheese over noodles; spread with 2 cups of the sauce mixture.  Sprinkle with 1 cup of the Mozzarella cheese.  Repeat with 4 noodles, the remaining cottage cheese, 2 cups of the sauce mixture and the remaining Mozzarella cheese.  Top with the remaining noodles and sauce mixture; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

Cover and refrigerate up to 12 hours.

When ready to make dinner, preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Bake covered 30 minutes.  Uncover and bake until hot and bubbly, 30 to 40 minutes longer.  Let stand 15 minutes before cutting.

Recipe may be halved.  Just use an 8 x 8 baking dish.

Now that dinner's ready, what's stopping you?  Be ready to spend as much time as possible in your sewing room December 3-10, 2011.  Spend a whole day.  Spend several days.  Spend a few hours.  Whatever you can muster.  Then, on December 11, 2011, I'll host a linky party. Join in by writing a blog post and linking up. Show us all that you've accomplished during your occupation. Don't have a blog? No problem! Just create a FlickR Set and post that URL. Linky party participants will be eligible to win fabulous prizes!

I've extended the time to link up through the end of the week--until December 16, 2011.   After that, I'll choose winners at random and announce them on the morning of December 17, 2011. And I'm adding yet another winner (bringing the total to four!) who will win this fabulous prize:

The 2-DVD set of the documentary Why Quilts Matter.

Already in the prize mix are these three prizes awarded to an additional three winners.

Quilting Block & Pattern-A-Day 2012 Calendar.

$30 off on quilting a lap-size or larger quilt from Marcia's Crafty Sewing & Quilting Blog and a Moda Strawberry Fields jelly roll.

Yet another winner will receive a Moda Little Apples charm pack.

Help spread the word by blogging, posting the "Occupy" button on your blog or Facebook or Tweeting about the event for one extra chance to win. Just grab the HTML code at the top of my right side bar and then leave me a comment letting me know how you've done that.

Looking forward to seeing you at Occupy Your Sewing Room!

While I would love to occupy my sewing room this weekend I will be experiencing Occupy GrammyWorld instead. I will have my 3 1/2 yr old granddaughter her for the weekend and that is about the only thing that will get me out of the sewing room for a whole weekend if I am at home!

I'm so there with jingle bells on.

Thank you for the time saving recipe, my family may start looking like lasagna by Dec. 10th!
No precooking of noodles...an added bonus.
