The End is in Sight!

Good morning, my friends. I can tell you right now it's going to be a banner day. Today I will finish the 36th of 36 Tiny Houses. Sadie thinks that calls for a celebration.

Purretty please?

Smitty was too busy hassling the squirrels to have an opinion about it. Squirrel hunting season is almost over.

When I had myself up and around and dressed, I got a head start on dinner. I baked this yummy skillet cornbread. This is a recipe my friend Debi shared. I have several recipes for cornbread, but this one is my favorite.

When we got home for our most recent trip, I found a zip-lock bag marked "Stuffing for two Poblano Peppers" in my freezer. Apparently I had more filling than peppers at some point in time. I picked up a couple of peppers, roasted them to remove their skins and seeds, and then stuffed them with the leftover stuffing. Here's an old image of how they look when they're done.

When it was time for dinner, all I had to do was pile on a handful of cheese and heat them up in the toaster oven. I love it when dinner is made hours before we're ready to eat it. And I was happy to get that bag of leftover stuffing out of my freezer.

I've linked to the recipe for these several times, but it seems Fine Cooking magazine has ceased publication. So sad. The links no longer exist, and so I'll give you the recipe for these right here. It's a great way to use up leftover chicken and rice.

Our mail was held while we were traveling. It was delivered yesterday. There, I found this half-yard bundle of fabrics I purchased while on the road. You might recall I found these on the bolt in a quilt shop, and then I was too lazy to pick a color. Then, my enabling friend Chris told me about this bundle in an Etsy shop. Well. Of course, they had to be mine. And now they are.

Also, this arrived yesterday. But would it really be compatible with my Baby Lock machine? The folks at Handi Quilter told me it would.

As I prepared to open it, this sticker gave me pause. I'd spent $71 on this, and if it didn't work, I wanted to be able to return it.

So, what to do? What to do? So, I went online to the Handi Quilter website and looked at a picture...

comparing it to how my machine looks. And it sure seemed like it would work. So, I swallowed hard and opened the package and then installed it on my machine. Yahoo! It fits!!!

And I want this for straight line quilting, so I drew a line on a cut-off scrap of sandwiched quilt leftovers, and....

Ta-Da! I'm so happy about this! I'm happy because I've wanted a foot that would help me quilt straight lines without a ruler. And I'm happy I wasn't stuck with a very expensive foot that wouldn't work.

By then, I had my housekeeping chores done, and I was ready to finish off Tiny House #35. Sadie was hoping we were going to quilt with all the celebration over that square foot. What a disappointment to find we were still papurr-piecing.

She decided to snoopervise from her little bed.

I had just a few sections to make, and then I sewed the whole thing together. That's Tiny House #35. One to go.

Here it is...the last one.

Probably, I could have finished it, but then, I might've had to sacrifice my sanity. And so when I had it this far...

I decided to quit for the day. By the end of today, all 36 blocks will be finished, and that really will be cause for celebration.

Smitty was tired after chasing squirrels all day. When I turned off the lights to the sewing room, he was getting ready to take a nap in his office in HR (He Rests).

So, my first task today will be to finish off the last Tiny House, and then I'll get going on the quilting for Strips and Stripes.

It's long wait for its turn under my needle has finally arrived. This quilt was spoken for the day I finished the quilt top. My friend has been waiting for a while. He lives in Arizona, and so it's not like he needed a quilt in Arizona in the summer time. He'll be happy to have it for winter, though. I'll be happy to have it finished.

Okay...my day is planned. What do you have planned for yourself today?

glad your sewing foot fit - that really isn't nice to say it can't be returned! Pretty fabric - today I will find the pattern pieces for the next NYB block I'm doing and pick out the fabric.

Glad the foot fit! And thank you for the yummy-sounding recipe. In case you ever need an online source, I found what looks like the same recipe on Food.com.

Woohoo! A banner day at Three Cats Ranch! Congratulations on your finish (mostly and enough!), your feet fitting (not surprised there!), and using up a freezer bag. What more could a girl ask for!

Did you hear about our excitement last week? Not one, but TWO tornadoes. One in Clearwater, the other just a couple miles from our little piece of Paradise. Downtown Crystal River got hit really bad, same places that were just starting recovery from Hurricane Idalia. In all our years here, we've never seen weather events like the last two years. The Gulf is really kicking our collective butts. Definitely a hit to the local economy. Yet, people keep coming, bringing all their baggage, poor driving habits and high expectations for infrastructure and service. Sorry, rant over. Tomorrow's another day :)

Yikers!! THIRTY-SIX of those tiny paper-pieced houses done!!! I salute you--not only paper piecing, but such teeny-tiny piecing. When is the medal ceremony?? hahaha--No kidding though--I think you've done a fabulous job on these...
Happy that foot fits!! Good deal. Hugs, Julierose

Sadie looks pawsitively disgusted with the entire paper piecing thing so I'm sure she'll be delighted to put that one behind her.
Very glad the foot fit (say that five times fast!) and does what you hoped for.
