Lackluster

Good morning, my friends. I spent most of yesterday sleeping. Mike also spent most of his day sleeping. We weren't really sick so much as just lacking any energy for anything whatsoever. Even sitting upright felt like a chore. Aside from sleeping the day away, almost nothing was accomplished.

By mid-afternoon, I ventured into the sewing room. I wanted to lay out the blocks for the Jericho Walls quilt. It took almost all my energy with so much bending over and then standing up again. I used to have a design wall for this, but I never used it. I prefer to lay things out on the floor.

Thankfully, I had my helper cat standing by offering suggestions.

Then, I needed to cut the setting triangles. I don't know about you, but when I have a limited amount of fabric to work with, I want to make a couple of wrong cuts right away. And that's what I did with this. I first cut forgetting to take into account the selvage edge. Then, I made a 9-inch cut where I needed 9-1/2 inches. I was able to get all the setting triangles I needed, and I laid it all out together.

And I don't have enough fabric to finish this off, but I cut as many sashing strips as I could.

The instructions had me a little confused. See those two cornerstones at the outermost corner? The instructions didn't picture those...just the sashing strip. And when I sewed the two strips to the side of the block, it was obvious the top strip would not be long enough. So, first I sewed just the triangle to the top. Then, I did some sleuthing online to see how others had done this. I ended up removing the triangle and adding the top sashing with the two cornerstones. I'm now confident that is the correct way to finish off the corners. Also, each sashing row will have a cornerstone at the extreme ends. And all of this figuring and sleuthing hurt my sickly brain, so I only got as far as sewing the first block together.

After that, I went back upstairs and fell asleep again. Now that I'm started on it, I want to keep going. Hopefully, I'll be a little more energetic today. I'm just hopeful that extra yard of fabric I purchased online will be delivered soon. I received a tracking number, but so far, the post office claims not to have it in their possession. It's coming from Iowa, so how long can that take? Jericho Walls was my Rainbow quilt for the 2022 Rainbow Scrap Challenge. This being Saturday, I'll link up there today.

Okay, so I'm feeling a little better this morning, but still kind of achy. I'm hoping I'll feel better as the day wears on. Tylenol has helped some too. When I finish here, I'll have some breakfast and take some more. I'm happy to submit to the vaccines, and I feel lucky we have vaccines to help us stay healthy. On the other hand, I wish they didn't lay us so low every time.

And now...I think I'll go surf my couch again for a while. Mike is still in bed as I'm writing this. Going back to sleep sounds like a good idea.

Better a day sleeping then a hospital admittance and being put on a ventilator. OK, that's what I remind myself every time I am knocked out by the Moderna vaccine. I'm impressed you were able to solve the corner stone placement with your somewhat foggy brain. It is going to be a lovely quilt.

You have my sympathies, and I so agree about being knocked about by the jabs. Saying that.... Even without the need for a ventilator covid is absolutely awful..... I definitely don't want it again!!! I go for my vaccine on Monday so I'll have Tuesday to sleep it off.
Hope you can do a bit more to your quilt tomorrow, take care of yourself first.

Sorry you are feeling so poorly after your vaccines. Luckily the only side effects we have had is a slightly sore arm for a day, nothing else. Hope your extra fabric arrives shortly so you can finish assembling your blocks.

So sorry you're still feeling off, but sleep is a good antidote. Hopefully tomorrow will see a big improvement.
NOW I see how you mean when you said you were setting the blocks on point and I like it better than the 'straight on' approach, even though it does require math!

Hopefully your energy level picked up as the day went on yesterday. My Rhododendron quilt is also set on point, but I'm not using the pieced blocks Bonnie used, so I'm having to come up with my own measurements for the cutting and yes, I cut the corner setting triangles wrong the first time. So you are in good company.
