Three Days, Three Finishes

Good morning, my friends! We're back from our pretend camping trip. Yesterday was our day to unpack. We had a couple of errands to run in town. The unpacking took less than 20 minutes, since we'd been bringing things in piecemeal. I just needed to finish off the last of it, and then I could get back to my sewing. But first, I must advise you of this good sign: For the first time this spring, I had to lower the shade on my window so that the sun doesn't shine on my computer screen. Now, that's gotta mean something, right? For one thing, it means a sunny day, and I'm going to get out for a walk.

As for yesterday, I finished off the last of the embroidery for the "Humble Beauty" piece. Lots of stitching in this one:

I added the green for some of the stems, but the rest was done in the colors suggested. It'll get sewn into a small wall-hanging soon enough. I've already pulled some fabrics I want to use, and I'll show the whole thing when I've finished it in a couple of weeks.

We made our trip into town after that. When we got home, we had some lunch, and then I sat and stitched the binding for the Dream Big Leaf quilt. This one has been waiting its turn for at least a month. I didn't really expect to sit and stitch the whole thing in one fell swoop, but that is what happened.

It has no other function than serving as a piece for me to practice free motion quilting. These Dream Big panels are great for that. Some people have turned them into beautiful quilts. I just wanted to work on the quilting. Probably I won't do another, but I'll keep an eye out for similar kinds of panels. Here's how it looks from the back:

Smitty gave it the snuggleability test and then claimed it for his own.

And since I was all out of slow-stitching, I needed to trace out the next one. Smitty was on hand for that too. He's the all-around stitching cat with 11 years of experience.

So next up is the "Spring has Sprung" section of these stitcheries I'm making for the "Seasons" quilt. These are Kathy Schmitz patterns. This is the picture from the pattern cover.

They finish up at 14 x 18, and so they are large pieces for tracing. I probably spent more than an hour on this one.

This isn't the best background fabric, and it's a little hard to see through for tracing. When it was finished, it looked like this:

Yeah, not much to see, but it's hooped up and ready to go. I'll start in the lower right-hand corner where the big bunny is.

Also today, I'll get to work on Tiny House #13. This is the picture from the pattern.

Mine will end up much wonkier than this one. When the patterns are released, they are in "drawing" form, rather than fabric. I'm curious to see how hers come out, and whether they are wonky like mine.
Probably it will take the whole of my sewing day to make it. The sections go from "C" through "N," and so there's quite a bit to do.

If I can finish it before my sewing day is over, I'll get busy on the next block for "When Quilters Gather."

There's always plenty to do. And with that, I guess I'll start doing it. It's Friday. The weekend is coming. We're hoping this sunny weather will continue for a day or two. Tomorrow will be a farmer's market day with Erik and Mae, and it would be nice to have a dry day.

Great finishes and that bunny pattern is so cute. Our weather is back to rain but I'm hoping it will be sunny tomorrow as we are going bird watching. I'm going to take some hand stitching with me so I can hang out in the cafe if the weather is wet.

Beautiful piece of work, such a lovely design.
I hope the sun stays with you.... We've had a few days of awful wind and rain.
I look forward to seeing your new blocks and that house..... Very modern....

Three finishes in as many days, must be some kind of record, even with Smittys able assistance! Those dream panels will make great kitty quilts for their favorite lounging areas, and they're so pretty as well as being functional. I have a Christmas tree one that I'll probably never get around to quilting unless it becomes the back for another quilt.

The embroidery turned out beautifully and so did your Dream Big leaf quilting. Congrats on all the finishes during your staycation. Hope you get to enjoy the Farmer's Market this morning.
