Good morning, my friends. It's our day to drive home, and so things will be getting back to normal. Obviously, we're already home, and so it'll be a day for unpacking from our truncated trip. We've been bringing things in piecemeal for the past couple of days, and so it won't take long.
Sticking with my ban on machine sewing yesterday, I spent most of my sewing day hand-stitching the binding for the "Maps" quilt. Smitty enforced my hand-sewing-only policy.
Together, we stitched around the first two corners before stopping for lunch.
When I laid it out for a picture, Smitty tested its seat-ability characteristics and found it to his liking. Very comfy on his tail end. Also, it makes an excellent place to sit and watch birds and squirrels outside. Yes, I did blur that quilt block he's sitting on. No peeking!
We had some lunch, and then he granted his purrmission for both of us to take naps.
When I awakened, Sadie had taken over Smitty's job, and she stayed with me until the very last stitch.
This is your last peek before the reveal on May 1st.
So, today will be reserved for a little more hand-stitching. I'll be getting started on the Dream Big Leaf quilt. It's been waiting for a long time to have its binding hand-sewn. Now, it's clipped and waiting for me downstairs.
I'm expecting to finish off my embroidery project this morning, and then I'll get to work on this binding. I doubt I can finish it in a single day, but it is just slightly smaller than the "maps" quilt. It's possible, but not probable.
I'll have to spend some time unpacking today, and then I guess I'll try to make a little time for some housekeeping chores. If I can finish off this binding, I'll get to work building the next Tiny House, and then I'll return to my list of WIPs. There's no rest for the wicked. I've never thought of myself as "wicked," but then I can't speak for those cats. There are probably some furry mammals outside who have their own opinions.

It is a process of discovery. It's being quiet enough and undisturbed enough for a period of time so that the songs can begin to sort of peek out, and you begin to have emotional experiences in a musical way. ~ James Taylor
Unpacking is my least favorite part of taking vacations. And just now, my husband wanted to know where I put the sunscreen . . . unpacked from our Bahamas trip last November!! Of course if it wasn't in the usual cabinet, then I have no idea. LOL
Can't wait for the reveal of the maps quilt.
I love the binding with all those stripes, and the curled up quilt looks like a den of snakes!! Hurry, hurry, I am dying (not really) to see the quilt!! What fun it has been for you, and for us in waiting to view it. :o) Melanie T.
I love the fabric you have used on the back of the map quilt and the binding is great. Roll on May 1st for the reveal.
I have to say I had the same thought that Unknown had that the curled up quilt looks like a bunch snakes. My mom always said, "There's no rest for the weary."
