Good morning, my friends, and happy Saturday! We're expecting warming temperatures and decreasing rain over the next week. Mike and I are already plotting what we'll have for dinner on our first evening dining outside in 2023. Fingers crossed the forecast holds and the good weather actually materializes. Our weatherman has taken to apologizing for the times he's predicted warming weather that never arrived, as if it's his fault.
When it was time to properly start my day yesterday, I went out to fill the birdfeeders. The kitties went out with me. We've been taking them on supervised excursions since there's been some worrisome coyote activity around. We had a very busy outing yesterday. They're always on the hunt for the best grass.
If the weather ever improves, we'll get out and do some clean-up of the winterkill. Everything is covered in moss and dead stuff right now. Sadie practiced her wall-walking.
We wandered around behind the greenhouse where she thought she spotted something she could kill.
Smitty had other business up on the patio, though.
He's been aggravated at the squirrels digging around in the whiskey barrel and eating the foliage off the poppies.
As a purrcaution, he stood guard.
Sadie watched from her perch on the deck. (See above, moss and winterkill.)
When it was time to come in, we ended our walk with kitty kisses.
Back inside, I finished up Tiny House #14. So wonky.
Every one is wonky, but when they're laid out together, they're kind of fun.
Sadie helped by holding down the pile of quilts to be sandwiched. Sometimes they get impatient for their turn to become finished quilts. Also, she wanted to give you a glimpse of her beautiful tummy furs.
Here, I caught her as she was beginning the sit-ability test on this fabric I was planning to use for one of the Painted Ladies houses.
I was only just getting started on the cutting for these when it was time to stop for the day.
When I took this project box down and opened it, it took me a few minutes to reorient myself to what I was doing. Fortunately, I'd anticipated this when I put it away last time and I'd written myself notes and clipped things together. It was fairly easy to pull my thinking in the right direction. I was thinking these were being done one vertical row at a time. That's only partly correct. The blocks are sewn together in vertical rows, but I'm doing them five at a time. There are 34 altogether. Some of them are partials, and those go at the top and bottom of some of the rows. Here's a picture of the finished quilt for clarity.
So far, I've done the four houses on the left side of the quilt, and the partial at the top and bottom of the second row from the left. Now I'm cutting fabrics for five more, and I'm choosing colors similar to those in the picture. Today, I'll just continue on where I left off. I believe I can finish all five today, but maybe not...we'll see. Sometimes my sewing eyes are bigger than my sewing machine...or something like that.
Okay, well if anything is going to get done, I guess I'd better go do it. Enjoy your Saturday. I'm off to enjoy mine.

Warmer weather for you will be very welcome. We expect more cold days in the next week, but eventually it will be hot and humid. So patience is the key.
Those funny little houses just make me smile. So cute!

Fingers crossed you get a nice enough day for a patio dinner. If it's been warm, it's also been too windy to want to eat outside. Your Wonky houses are such fun. Hope you get in lots of fabric house building today.
Ah - NOW I undertand how that house quilt goes together! I've been puzzling over that one (quite obviously I'm not a sane quilter or I could have figured it out).
I think this latest wonky house is my favourite so far.
