Good morning, my friends. I was awake early this morning. There seems to be a "witching" hour after which, there's no getting back to sleep. My mind gears up with the coming day's activity, and it soon becomes clear there's going to be no more sleeping. It's okay. I have an early appointment for a haircut, and I can come home and take a nap later. Meanwhile, there's morning stuff to take care of before I need to leave. "Morning stuff." That includes chatting with you.
Since I'd finished the latest block for the Domestic Affairs quilt, I had no slow-stitching except for the binding on Mr. MacGregor's Garden. And I'm not picky, so I went to work. When I was ready to move along, I'd turned the first corner.
It seemed like a good idea to finish tracing out the next embroidery piece, and so I headed downstairs to pick up where I'd left off the day before. Sadie ran down the stairs ahead of me, jumping up into her clubhouse before I could close the door and force her to keep me company in the sewing room. She's pretty good at evading the pawpawrazzi when she needs to.
Oh well. So, I finished tracing the next piece. As I mentioned yesterday, this is from a kit I purchased at a quilt shop in Meridian, Idaho. I'm using my own floss and my own fabric. I like these designs, but the materials included in the kit are not the best quality.
Smitty helped with that. It didn't hurt that his little bowl of catnip was right beside me. He could assist and imbibe at the same time.
With the tracing done, I went to work on the blocks for Calendula Patterdrip's Cottage. I needed four bow tie blocks...
...and six pinwheel blocks.
I briefly debated whether to start on the next Tiny House...like for 3 seconds, or so...and then decided to do some more work on the quilt binding. By day's end, I'd turned the second corner. I'm nearing the third corner now, and so I should easily finish this today.
Since I'm attempting to get going early, I'm hurrying through my morning routine. I'd still like to get in my treadmill walking before I leave, and a little slow-stitching never hurts. There's leftover oatmeal from yesterday morning to get the day started right.
Except for heading out for a haircut, there's nothing but sewing on the day's agenda. I've completed 31 of 42 blocks for the Calendula Patterdrip quilt. Today's assignment will be to make six Broken Dishes blocks. If I can get those finished, I might start on the next Tiny House or I might finish off the rest of the blocks for Calendula Patterdrip. There will only be five Churn Dash blocks the finish all of them. When those are finished, I'll be ready to sew them together into a border for the quilt. I'm closing in on a finish, and that almost always takes priority.

Early morning cheerfulness can be extremely obnoxious. ~ William Feather
I have those early mornings sometimes too. It's useful for getting a lot done. Now that I'm not working, that afternoon nap helps a lot. Hope you can get in lots of stitching this afternoon.
DH couldn't sleep so he got up shortly after 5 which of course woke me up so I spent the next three hours reading. Alas there will be no napping for me but I suspect he'll get several in before the day is done.
You have such a great routine to your days, and good help in your sewing room! I like that print for McGregor's Garden - makes me want to cook! Enjoy your NBS day!
