Many Forms of Tiny

Good tiny morning, my friends. We're all about things that are tiny, here at the Three Cats Ranch today. For one thing, we had a tiny amount of snowfall last night. When we went to bed, we weren't sure we wouldn't awaken to snowpocalypse, but the forecast was overblown. We have just a tiny amount of accumulation, although it's still falling.

There was just a tiny amount of time to work on the inchies yesterday, but they too are tiny. Even with just a few minutes, I can usually finish them off before other obligations encroach on my slow-stitching time. This one is backstitch, French knots, stem stitch, and double lazy daisies.

When that was finished, it was time to get ready to go. I had an appointment for a haircut and color. I wanted some blonde streaks at the top, but leaving most of my natural color the same. I think in the "olden days," we used to call that "frosting." Not being up on my hairstyling terms, I always walk into these situations at a significant disadvantage. My hairdresser asked me how blonde I wanted it. Answering, I said I didn't want it "platinum," and I also didn't want it to look like "gray." So she tied a cap on my head and went to work with a literal tiny crochet hook pulling out tufts until I looked very similar to the tufted puffins we see on the Oregon coast.

And all of that to say that it doesn't look that much different from the picture I showed you a few weeks back...just a tiny bit lighter. So, I'm happy with it, but I'd like it to be a little lighter and maybe a little streakier. Next time, I'll look for a picture more in line with what I have in my tiny mind.

So that happened. Then I came home and went to work on the sixth Tiny House. Sadie was my tiny helper extraordinaire. As the tiniest cat in the house, she feels purrticularly qualified to lend her expurrtise to the tiny effort.

She helped me pull scraps from my tiniest scrap bins.

And let me just tell you, the work is 'zhausting. She needed a tiny nap before we were finished.

When she awakened, she brought her tiny peets to where I was working to offer up a tiny bit more suppurrt.

After about two hours, I had it finished.

These are ending up at different sizes. I'm not sure whether it's a problem with the patterns or whether it's a problem with the quilter sewing them together. In any case, I have about three different sizes now. I'll figure out how to bring them together when all 36 are made. Here are the six I have so far.

A bonus 37th came down with the pattern for yesterday's house. I'm not sure I'll include it, but I can decide later whether I want to make it. This one is "Shrek's Loo." We Americans would refer to this as an outhouse....

I have an idea I'll be more than ready to be finished with these by the time I finish number 36, but one never knows. It could replace something I don't like too.

Okay, so today is a grocery shopping day. I sort of hoped the snow would be so overwhelming that we would not dare go out. Nothing doing. No excuses. We're going. If we survive the trip, I'll get back to quilting the Dream Big Leaf project.

There's still a long way to go before it will be finished.

I'm guessing those of you farther east have a lot more snow from the storm than we do. It's a good day to stay inside and stay warm. Be safe, my friends.

It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn't feel like a giant. I felt very, very small. ~ Neil Armstrong

Amazing isn't it how the weather reporters always have us on the brink of some sort of disaster. Pfft!

Those tiny cat feet can be painful! Billy, my newest rehome, is a small cat who happens to look just like a watermelon with whiskers! If I'm sitting on the recliner, feet up, one of his favorite things to do is walk up my shin bones towards my face with those little, tiny feet. Ouch! I can only imagine that is what it feels like when someone stomps on you with high heels. :-)

The Inchies and the tiny houses are sure cute. Yes, the snow is piling up here in eastern SD. But I don't mind, and had no where to go anyway that couldn't wait. It's a good day for a nap, which is what I need as I'm still recuperating from a really nasty stomach bug.

Living in San Diego CA, we don't usually have storms like you get but we had one last night. Wind gusts to 80 mph took down my Bottlebrush tree that we've had for 30+ years. The rain was coming at us horizontally instead of vertically, shaking the whole house. They are saying that we have 2 more storms just like that one waiting off the coast. Batten down the hatches!

Nothing tiny about our snowfall here - it has finally stopped, but we have had about 17" total. We are tucked in, warm, and happily working at our respective tasks. Wilbs is curled up in a ball on our bed, snoozing away. Your tiny houses are so fun, and that outhouse cracks me up!

What we don't go through to change up the way we look. When I first started going grey I had my hair streaked which I didn't mind, but then the hairdresser forgot what she did and used a new process that ended up making me look like I'd streaked by head with bleach. Nope, forget that. I've earned these grey hairs and that's all there is to it.
Seeing that tiny house makes me marvel at your stick-to-it-iveness. Good thing you have Sadie to help!
