Moving Slow

At least one of my blogging friends mentioned the de-energizing quality of winter weather. I am in complete agreement. It's a time of year when I want to get under the covers with my Warmie and drop off into a state of hybernation. Today will need to be a grocery shopping day, which always throws a monkey wrench into any plans I might have made otherwise.

Yesterday morning started as it often does...establishing the hierarchy of alpha males in the house.

Having confirmed his supuuriority, Sadie took her turn in the morning theatrics. She determined it was a good time to dramatize the fact that she was nearly half starved to death from lack of a third dispensing of morning treats.

When that didn't work, they collaborated in their efforts to portray themselves as half frozen Kats from the Klondike.

With just a few patches of snow left, it was a hard sell.

Since they were outside, I decided to park myself in a chair where I could see the door and get stitching on the Trashy Triangles quilt binding. The kitties generally stay outside for about 20 minutes. It was a little warmer yesterday...into the low 40's...and so they were out long enough for me to turn the second corner. I was approaching the third corner when they came to the door to be let in.

After lunch and a nap, I went to work on my challenge piece. I'm approaching the second most difficult part. Last night, I went pawing through my scraps looking for some appropriate fabrics for the secondary subject in my image. So far, I'm happy with how it's going. I'm referencing a book from my Kindle library entitled, It's All About the Face, by Phyllis Cullen and Cindy Richard. (There's also a Facebook group that goes by the same name.)

This is only my second attempt at a human face. The first faces I attempted were done in profile when I made the "Getting to Know You" quilt for a previous challenge.

The noses and lips are a little challenging, but referring to the book lets me know I'm on the right track. When I'd finished with my hour's worth of work yesterday, it was about half finished. Here's your peek.

Okay, so with grocery shopping on today's agenda, I don't have a lot of time for talking this morning. I haven't made up my shopping list yet, although the menu for next week is planned. It's time to make some breakfast and face the madding hordes. I'm hoping there will still be time left in the day for more sewing when we're finished.

Good luck with the dreaded grocery shopping expedition. I hate that job more than any other so I was very happy when they brought in curb side pickup. I'm more than enthused with letting some other poor soul do my shopping for me!

I'm looking forward to seeing your "new" faces piece. I've never tried anything like that, but I'm intrigued.

That grocery shopping - something I've put off this week. But at some point today or tomorrow I will have to do it. God forbid that we run out of milk and cereal for my husband. Can't have his daily breakfast routine interrupted. LOL

I understand the slow going. I went in to run some errands, thinking I would take a leisurely stroll through some of the shops. I went to the library first, returning and picking up two books. Then I had two more stops, and decided I just wanted to be back home. I'm even noticing that there are no shoppers out - where is all the holiday mood? Maybe we all just want to be snuggled under a quilt, reading a book, with a cat on our lap!

I hadn’t grocery shopped in so long, the aisles were rearranged. Hubby has shopped the last 3 years. I’d go with him for a quick in and out on maybe a handful of times. He is sick with a horrendous cold so I ran the errands for meds and stocking the kitchen. Geeez. After an hour and a half I called it quits. I kept going back and forth across the store to pick up items that were relocated. It’s remarkable how much a store changes the positioning and cycling of products. The good news is there seemed to be very few "supply line" issues and I eventually found everything.

I hope your foray to the store went quickly.

I I get ONE thing done each day, then I'm good. If it is shopping, it doesn't matter if it is close or far drive. Once I'm home I'm done.
