Nothing But Cats

It's National Cat Day, and time to celebrate our furry furriends. Actually, I only learned about National Cat Day from my friend Wendy yesterday. Something must have told me to celebrate. When I took the pictures off my camera from yesterday, I found that everything I'd done related to cats. Of course, I can't rule out the pawsibility that there's some kind of catspiracy at work here.

First, I worked away at my Kitty Cat Alphabet until it was time to move my hoop to the next position.

I'm nearing the finish line with this one.

While we watched the news last night, I stitched most of the way to the left side of the piece, and I expect I'll finish that section this morning.

After that, we moved into the sewing room. Smitty was my loyal helper cat for yesterday's project.

We looked high and low for Sadie. Where's Sadie? Has anybody seen Sadie?

Well, Sadie or no Sadie, the show must go on. It was an NBS day (Nothing But Sewing), and I was itching to get at my "fun finish" piece, Get Well Kitty. I first created a background, and then fused down most of the pieces.

Borders needed to be added before I could fuse down the final piece...the aspirin bottle.

That's as far as I took it yesterday. There's still top-stitching to do and some hand-stitching. And then most of the details will be added with the accompanying button pack. It's a wall hanging, and it will finish up at about 16 x 19 inches. When it's all finished, I'll add it to the Mewseum. I'm hoping to get most of it finished today. For now, it's basted to its batting, and I'll do the top-stitching through the batting before adding the back. The back is cut from that same blue cat border fabric.

But let's just get back to today's reason for celebrating: Cats! Susan at Quilt Fabrication is having a linky party to celebrate our furry furriends.

Smitty and Sadie can't wait to see which of their many pictures I'm going to post to celebrate them.

Sadie likes this photo she chose as her Tinder profile picture:

Smitty likes this one showing him hard at work in his purrsition as chief quilt inspector.

Cats are worth celebrating every day of the year, but especially today on National Cat Day.

So what else is going on today? We're expecting out of town guests tonight, and so I'm doing a little cooking this morning. I'll probably venture out for a short trip into town. Our friends will be spending the night with us, and so I'll take the day off from blogging tomorrow. It's going to be a busy morning tomorrow starting with breakfast for our guests. Unfortunately, our visit will be interrupted so that Mike and I can get our Moderna boosters, but then we'll have lunch at a favorite cafe in town. I'm hoping there will be some time for sewing in all of that, but not really counting on it.

Enjoy celebrating your furry furriends today, and I'll be back on Sunday to give you the latest news from the Three Cats Ranch.

Uh oh. I apparently started my celebration of National Cat Day by locking the cats out of the bedroom so I could get some much needed sleep.

We got the Pfizer booster on Tuesday. It knocked me for a loop, unlike the first two shots. Didn't affect my hubs at all tho.

Wishing Smitty and Sadie Happy Cat Day. One of my favorite cat quotes is:

"“There are two means of refuge from the misery of life — music and cats.” ― Albert Schweitzer"

I would add quilting and gardening to that quote.
