Fun, Family, and Felines

Awesome alliteration. This morning, I have to write fast because I'm seeing the shoulder specialist in a couple of hours. First, I have to stop off for some x-rays, and so I don't have a lot of time this morning. Nevertheless, I wanted to tell you what a good time we had with Erik and Mae yesterday.

It was Mae's idea to visit the winery. Skies were threatening, and it was cold outside, so we braved the interior of the tasting room for the first time in many, many months. It felt very safe. You can see through my glass of rose how far away the other tasters were.

There was a door open, and they seated us next to a crackling fire...real wood! A rare find these days.

I was trying to remember the last time we'd spent any time with them, and it had to be back in early October. We canceled Thanksgiving and Christmas. The only other passing glance we had in person was the day we parked our truck in their driveway while we went on the bike ride from hell.

Skies were threatening as we left the winery.

But I still paused to take pictures of every blooming thing.

The green guard petals on my own daffodils are just beginning to pull back and show the yellow underneath. Give us a day of sunshine, and I'll show you some daffodils in our own yard. One of you can probably identify these next flowers. I don't know them.

So, the only sewing I did yesterday was to get a start on the Dancing Chickens and Flying Pigs block.

And since I know y'all get weird, nervous, and thirsty when you don't see the kitties, I took these pictures just as I was coming upstairs to write my post. Sadie pawsitively hates being used as a blog prop. She's letting me know not to come any closer with my flashing camera.

Smitty, on the other hand, enjoys his fame. He'll always pose for his picture.

Okay, so time to get going. There isn't anything on my agenda for after my doctor's visit except sewing. I want to add some borders to the Bee Brave block finished a couple of days ago, and then I'll get going on my challenge piece.

Your mystery flower is Hellebore, a very low maintenance perennial that even the deer don't like and in my garden grows prolifically under a black walnut tree. Looks like your reunion with Erik and Mae was delightful, despite the threatening weather. Spring has definitely sprung here, but it's a tad early, so I'm hoping there's no April deep freeze to remind us of who's in charge. Here's hoping for good news from the specialist.

What a great way to safely visit and have fun with Erik and Mae. Beautiful photos. I hope all goes well with your doctor's visit today. I think you've been doing a good job with your PT schedule (stitchery, quilting, cooking, etc), but still important to check in with the experts to see what they advise. I do so hope all is good news.

Your other fried told it’s a hellebore but I’ll tell you the other name: Lenten Rose. Apropos right now I think. I always think they are so pretty and the remind of an early spring forest for some reason. My yard is too dry for them I think. Safe travels.

Love the daffodils, mine are done blooming. But I also have the Lenten Rose in my garden and love that their blossoms last much longer. Spring is showing her pretty face here in South Carolina, dogwoods and azaleas are just starting to bloom and the redbud treees are covered in blossoms. Unfortunately the pine trees are releasing great clouds of yellow pollen. This is the time of year that everyone’s car is the same color! 🤣

Love to see the kitty cats. Nice to get out and about. Your Annie project is moving along and it’s nice to see your embroidery. That meal looked soooo good!

If you want to check out the Helleborus or Lenten Rose varieties go to Wayside Gardens site. They have a lot of them, I have a dark purple one and sometimes it's blooming in the snow. I don't recommend this color as it hardly shows up with the dark green leaves. I do really like the one that has various colors on the same plant. I will be anxious to hear about your Dr. visit, I hope everything is A-OK..

I'm so glad you were able to see Erik and Mae, and what better than sipping wine while you visit. Our skies look a bit like yours this morning; we have rain in the forecast for the next couple of days. I'm plotting how best to approach my quilt projects, which one gets priority, etc. NBS days ahead!

My Lenten Rose is blooming here in the Atlanta, Ga area, as well. It has white tinged with green blooms and is showing off this year more than it ever has before. Everything else is blooming also and the dogwoods are just about to begin. I love this time of year more than any other but could also do without the yellow pollen! I hope all goes well with the Dr. visit and give the kitties an extra hug from me.
