When I finally sat down to quilt yesterday, I knew it wouldn't take long. I was working on little Wyatt's quilt. It took a couple of hours and lots of decisions. Mainly, I was just outlining the road and the structures in Wyatt's World. The quilting was mainly functional, and also intended to give it a little texture.
It ends up at 34 x 42 inches...a good size for a pint-sized person.
In the middle of all this, I wondered if Wyatt even has any matchbox cars, and so I went on Amazon and found this 9-car set for $10. It should arrive today.
So, I'm hoping I can finish hand-sewing the binding today. It shouldn't take too long on a quilt this size.
After I posted this picture of the embroidery finish from yesterday...
Aside from sewing the binding, I'm also ready to get started on the next block for Dancing Chickens and Flying Pigs. There isn't much embroidery, and so it shouldn't take more than a day or two. After that, I'm back to hand-quilting the Mulligan Stew quilt. One of these days, it too will be ready for binding.
So, there's no shortage of things to keep my hands busy today. In these waning days of sunshine, Mike suggested going out for a drive, and we'll probably do that. It'll be fun to get out and see the fall leaves before they're gone. Sounds like a nice way to spend the day.

The whole difference between construction and creation is exactly this: that a thing constructed can only be loved after it is constructed; but a thing created is loved before it exists. ~ Charles Dickens
Your little road quilt is sweet, I am sure it will be well loved.
Nice job quilting Wyatt's World; I can just picture the happiness it will bring;))) and with the matchbox cars--just perfect!!
Nice work hugs, Julierose
(P.S. I am recuperating from a grocery run. Phew....
I love the two paw pile up! Cats always seem to show up when the sewing machine starts humming!
Wyatt's world is adorable! That and the cars will keep him busy for hours.
Perfect quote, and I can't think of a more perfect gift for a young boy. Mothers of sons just know this!
What a sweet, quick finish. Love the added gift of matchbox to go with it.
What a great little gift! Wyatt is going to be one very happy little boy.
Methinks Wyatt is going to be thrilled with his gifts. What fun! If I was a little guy I know I'd like to play with it (and the cars too!). I love the soft colours in the embroidery and the happy-looking flowers in the block. Something pretty to look at on such a dull dreary day here.
I really love the panels that make such fun play mat quilts for kids! They're entertaining to work up, aren't they?
I love the two paw pileup! I can't sew anything before my cat, Crash, is right there in the middle of it. Is it the sound of the machine, the motion of the fabric, or just a curious "Brat Cat"?
I think Wyatt is going to love his quilt and the cars - too bad there wasn't a corvette in that batch of cars, though! You are doing really well on your projects. Your embroidery is so lovely.
Wyatt is going to love that gift! I think I might have a similar panel given to me...might have to do something with it by the time Hazel can move cars around!
So many wonderful projects going on! I love the "two paw pile up"... made me laugh out loud! Enjoy your stitching!
Wyatt's quilt is adorable, and great projects you have to work on! Happy stitching!
That little road quilt is so adorable and will provide many hours of fun with those lovely cars. Goodness so nice your friend noticed a line was missing, I often find missing lines after I complete my piece.
