Technical Difficulties

By yesterday afternoon, I was starting to think I'd lost all my blogging friends. Three days worth of blog posts, and not a single comment. Not even any comments on my giveaway post! And while I don't blog just to get comments, it is more fun that way. And besides, WTF? So yesterday afternoon, I went to my blogger dashboard and discovered y'all had been commenting away. I just haven't been receiving them. And so I looked further, and I can't say what happened, but I suspect user error (that would be me). I probably inadvertently "unsubscribed" myself at some point in time. So, it's all fixed now. I tried going back and catching up on the ones I've missed, but if I missed you, just know that it isn't you. It's me. So sorry. So anyway...a rainy day turned sunny when I realized you all hadn't disappeared, or that I hadn't farted in your general direction, or whatever else caused you to abandon us here at the Traveling Three Cats Ranch.

When I finished my post from yesterday, I was going to sew some more on my quilt binding, but I found the quilt weighted down somehow. It was nearly impossible to get it onto my lap for sewing.

Nevertheless, I persisted, and managed to turn the fourth corner.

But lemme just tell you...it rained the whole live-long day yesterday, which gave me all the time in the world to finish this off. It's too large to get a very good picture (especially on a rainy day), and so I just draped it over our chairs. This will have to do until I can get home with it and take a better one.

Here's how it looks from the back.

But it's pretty darned hard to see anything, and so I'll just give you this folded up version so you can get a good look at that binding.

We didn't mind the rain. It's been very warm, and we've had all the windows open despite the wet. There isn't any wind, and so the rain comes straight down. Mike spent the day sitting out under the awning, reading. I spent the day working on my slow-stitching. One thing I learned from this quilt is that these larger projects are not good take-along projects. I couldn't really take it outside without dragging it through the mud. And there was no real rush to finish this one...it just happened to be next on my list. For future RV trips, I'll consider size before deciding to take something along.

And on the slow-stitching front, I'm less than an hour away from finishing up the third snowman redwork piece. I'll show that one tomorrow. Fortunately, I have an emergency back-up stitchery I made up at the last minute. I'll only be able to give you peeks as I move along with it. It's something I'm making for a friend who reads, and so I want to preserve the surprise. But all of that to say thank goodness I have one more slow-stitching project to work on because...well, you know...things could get bad if I don't have something to keep my hands busy. Cats will only submit to so much loving and petting.

We're expecting a better day of weather today, and so we'll head out on the lake again this afternoon. I've been reading about the hot weather enveloping much of the country, and so those of you under the heat dome...seek shelter, drink a tasty refreshing beverage, and stay cool. Most of all...stay safe.

I did that oops once (unsubscribe comments) but realized it as soon as I hit it - so quick fix on a 'duh' moment. Smitty looks so comfortable napping on that quilt - he may not want to give it up.

That is a fabulous binding! I am always a little nervous about being adventurous with my binding. I need to step out of that solid comfort zone. :)
Enjoy that rain. Open window rainy days are the best. :)

We are having a typical summer, upper 90's. we have not had a 100, yet, but it is coming. We get clouds but no rain. Our Bernina shop closed her doors after 36 years. I had been a customer for most of those years. My husband and I helped her the last two weeks sorting, trashing, and marking items. It was a hard job with long hours, but I could not see her doing it all by herself. Another shop has picked up the Bernina brand and most of the staff that wanted to go. Some were ready to retire and others were ready to move on. We did not do it for the money, we did it for the friendship.

At the same time, I was having to vacate a bedroom for a 21 year old grandson. He is going to collage here and is renting a room from us. He is so quite, I forget he is here!

Love the binding on the quilt, it looks great. Good decision prepping a back up slow stitching project, It's always good to take more than you need rather than running out of things to do. Lucy was trying to get ahead on packing for India and is organising her clothes. So far I've made decisions on the books to take and my stitching. I guess I need to think about clothes as well.

Funny how a cat can weigh you down, from time to time! I love the yellows/golds and black in the binding and backing! And glad the loss was all in your head! ♥ :)

Isn't that great that you both had a quiet and restful time --getting away from it all..
We had torrential rains here most of the day--at one point it was 5.3" per hour!! Yikes we were sweeping the overflow out of our garage!! But it has stopped up for now--thank heavens...
i got a strange message that i shouldn't read your reply as it wasn't sent from your usual address!! Good old google, right?? anyway, it disappeared..???Strange...
I am making more snowballs--none of them are matching, but i will do something with them..hugs, Julierose...

Oh how disappointing to think your blogging friends left you behind! So happy you found the root cause...and it wasn't your farting! Ha!
Any day that it's extremely hot or perpetually raining gives me enough reason to spend time in my sewing room. I'll be there tomorrow as we are expecting the highest temps in 5 years for our area.

We had only a few sprinkles yesterday in Vancouver. I thought maybe you would end up with nicer weather than you thought. Today was much warmer.

It has been incredibly hot here, but no worries, I've been staying in, mostly. I am going to go for a walk today and try to walk off my lunch from yesterday :-) Nice finish on the Solstice! Glad you figured out the blog glitch too!

Congrats on the finish! You've gotten lots of the slow stitching done this trip. Hope the weather didn't disappoint and you were able to get back on the lake.

I am vicariously enjoying your rain - it's been in the high 90s here and, at least before noon, 75% humidity. UGH!!

Love the binding on the Solstice quilt. I probably wouldn't have thought about the size problem to take it along either.
