No Go on the Snow

Well, I'm disappointed beyond measure...crying buckets of tears. The first thing I did when I woke up this morning was to look outside, hoping for a blanket of white. All we got was a little dusting and a good coating of frost. Not even enough for a good picture.

Oh well. I've already stitched my sorrows away by first stitching Inchy #4 for National Embroidery Month. These are such fun.

But that wasn't nearly enough to resolve my sorrow and so I kept on stitching until I finished the binding on Cricket's pawtrait. She's all finished now.

Here's how her backside looks.

The next pawtrait will be Clementine's. She's my other grandkitten and Cricket's litter mate. Clementine is a little bit shy, and so it took a long time to get a good picture of her.

I probably won't do hers for another couple of months. These tend to take over my life when I'm doing them, and so I need a break in between.

In preparation for this non-snow event, I went to the grocery store yesterday...on a Sunday, no less. It only adds insult to injury knowing that I could have stayed home. Oh well. I need to do some more serious shopping tomorrow, and so tomorrow's list will be shorter than it might have been otherwise. That's no consolation, however. Just want to make that perfectly clear to any weather people who might be reading.

Back at home, I made the February block for the Garden Sunshine BOM. This one was really fun to do. I like that star.

After that, I considered my options for the new Project Quilting challenge. Challenge 10.3 is "Bigger Than A Breadbox." The "breadbox" really has nothing to do with it. This challenge is strictly related to size. A standard breadbox is about 16 x 8 inches, and so our quilts need to be larger than that. Of course, that left the field wide open to what one might do. I considered a mini, but those were mostly too small. Then I thought about doing a doll quilt for the new doll bed, but nothing really appealed to me. Finally...I found it. It seemed like a Valentine's theme was the best choice. I don't want to show you the whole thing since it's a quilt that will be more fun if you see the finished product all at once. Intriguing, no? Nevertheless, I will give you these two little peeks.

It includes yo-yo's.

Probably I'll have this finished today, and I'll be able to show you tomorrow. Also today, I want to finish off the Emerald Isle table runner. It needs the rick rack and binding added.

If I can finish both of those, I'll get started on the blocks for the two Rainbow Scrap projects.

We got your snow down in Coos Bay! The sun is out now, so it won't last long but it was so fun watching the big fluffy flakes earlier this morning.

With buds that big, you are in early Spring.

It must be nice to live where you can cry buckets without having the tears freeze permanently onto your face. No such indulgences here, let me tell you. All your lovely work puts my total laziness to shame. And yet I soldier on.

I love your finish of the Cricket Pawtrait! Hopefully when you do Clementine, I can watch once again. Clementine looks a lot like our Alfie, and I have to say that the fabrics you choose are always of particular interest. The challenge quilt looks suspiciously like cat tails.... but why on earth would I think that?

Well, the snow is headed our way. I'd be happy to send it back to you. The weekend brought us warmer weather and then left us with ice. I've already slid through one intersection, thank you very much. Cricket looks great, and I'm curious about your challenge quilt. Will be fun to see it!

Your efforts paid off though as the picture of CLemetine is perfectly adorable. Snow??? What a mild winter we have had huh. Love your "inchy" a day of embroidery....and the cat bacing is just awesome. Happy stitching!!!

Your animal portraits are wonderful. I like how you are doing more personal designs. It shows your true talent and eye for the world around you. Keep this up and you can have your own gallery show. It rained and rained here. We may get a dusting of snow this 24 hours. Since we see snow maybe once every few years on our hilltops (mountains to most across the US) this is big news for the valleys. Granted it likely will occur between 1-3 in the morning, but still. It will also get cold(for us). We were in the upper 30* s last night.

A small camera bag is under construction. I’m about ⅓ of the way through. It is a gift for hubby that I started 2 years ago. Maybe it will be done by his birthday or Valentine's Day. They are 2 days apart. Pattern is the Camille bag by Swoon patterns. It actually is a lot of fun to make. Other than that I am waiting on my serger to be serviced then I can finish other types of projects.

Wow, Cricket came out purrrrfectly! Awesome likeness, you really do have the magic touch. I've not been able to keep up, so last I saw, she had one ear and some face. You flew through this one!

The sneak peek sure looks like 2 tails with butts to me, can't wait to see the whole thing. We are enjoying our 72 degrees, after a long hard week of only 60's, with 40's at night. Am glad my friend Sol has returned!

Blessings!

Cricket's pawtrait is really sharp. A pretty cat. You did that one fast. One of these days I'm gonna try that.
All our snow melted off yesterday. Nearly 60 degrees! Crazy weather. In the negatives all last week until yesterday. It got so stuffy inside the house. That's Ohio. We say,"If you don't like the weather? Stick around, it will change."
You get so much accomplished in your days. I just love your blog.

You are moving right along with all your hand and machine stitching projects. Love Cricket's pawtrait, that's one handsome cat. Sorry you didn't get snow after going to all the trouble to make it to the grocery store. That's always aggravating.

You went to the grocery store on SUNDAY??!? Wow - I didn't hear about any grocery cart mayhem on the news for Oregon, so I guess it all went OK.

You got lots of fun stuff finished for sure. :)
