Not sure how I like that white fabric folded to the top as a binding, but I doubt the kids will care.
It was late in the day when I made my way into the sewing room to finish it yesterday. By the time it was finished, it seemed too late to start on anything else. As it turns out, I could have done more because Mike was late getting home after dealing with our switch to a new cell phone service provider. Still, it meant I decided to organize the stack of patterns that collected in my closet over months of printing off and ripping out. My patterns are sorted into categories and stored in large binders on a shelf. There are so many now that ten people couldn't live long enough to make all of them. To avoid having the collection of binders grow to ridiculous numbers, I now force myself to discard one pattern for every one that gets added.
Sadie has her own organizational strategy.
She tests each pattern for softness and rates it on a Likert scale:
5 = Super soft and snuggly
4 = Mostly soft...will do when there is no lap available
3 = Moderately soft...good enough for Smitty
2 = Barely soft...barely acceptable
1 = Porcupine...Unacceptable
The only other sewing I did yesterday was to add some more words to the Let's RV cross stitch. I'm using that term "cross stitch" loosely. There is very little cross stitch here. It's almost entirely back stitch, but I'm not complaining.
I think by the end of this morning's stitchfest, I'll be ready to move the hoop to the right. It's rather slow going, and I've made a few mistakes. No, I will not point them out to you.
Today I have some housework to do because I neglected yesterday's task. Grocery shopping sapped all my strength for adult-like things. I'll catch up today. Also, I have several items packed up for mailing. It's supposed to be a nice day, and so I have a plan to drive into town, visit the post office, and then take a walk down the main drag through town. It's been a while since I've done that.
If there's time today, I want to get going quilting the Lucky Charm quilt. This is a small table topper, and so it shouldn't take too long.
I have some ideas about how to quilt it, but I'll need to practice a little to see if I can pull it off.
As always, there's lots to do. Time to get going. Fingers crossed for some sunshine today.

I too have become very determined to be more careful on the patterns I buy and even download--between realizing how our taste can change after a couple years, and the level of what I like to do in quilting--it was time to do some sorting out and deleting!!

I do hope you saw the sun today. It was very cloudy here all day and the rain is supposed to start tonight and all day tomorrow. I sure hope they are wrong, we have had more than our share of rain this winter, but I am hoping when spring arrives all the flowers will bloom forever,! I know wishful thinking on my part but hey one can dream. Your finish is great, the kids will surely enjoy the sock monkey. Pet the kitties for me.
As always Barbara, beautiful work. Very sweet to make a quilt for those kids. My aunt did something similar in VA and was able to relate that a young teenage girl who received one of her quilts broke down and cried, it was the first brand new thing she'd ever received. You never know what your good works will mean or do for someone. Stitching is gorgeous. No need to point out 'mistakes'. Like I'd know anyway. Thanks for your blog, I love it.
I have my patterns in a basket, all tossed together. I just went through them, but didn't decrease the number much. Hope your day went okay yesterday with all the adult things. Today I'm sewing with friends, working on our Gypsy Wife quilts, so I'm looking forward to that. Did you get the sunshine you were hoping for?
Getting rid of something you once chose can be a "what was I thinking " moment or a soul searching process in which you allow yourself to let something go. You just hope you won’t regret it. Rarely do you find that letting it go is a regret. Sometimes you find getting started in the purge process feels so right you can get rid of years of accumulation in a short amount of time. The trick is getting all that stuff out of your house and gone so you don’t go back to that stash of stuff later and bring it back.
Glad to see sock monkey is on its way. Today is the day for me to get all that Christmas decorations put away. Between a late Christmas, visitors and sickness in the household this week is the first chance to finish it off.

That banana fabric is too stinkin cute, I like it as the binding it draws to the white blocks. Glad your patterns have all been tested and approved, LOL. Looking forward to seeing the finished Rv stitching, I would be in trouble as back stitch is my least favorite to follow. Those greens make me want to plant flowers and sit in the swing! I don't think Sadie likes your organizing. She would prefer laying on soft fabric. Your little quilt is very pretty. I like your cross-stitch too. I am looking forward to seeing the quilting on your Lucky Charm quilt.
I culled out a lot of the old patterns that I have made and will never make again. It feels really good to lighten the load. I am currently working on my oldest WIP. It is a Christmas one block wonder (stack and whack) quilt. Half way through, I fell out of love with it. Apparently I have lost part of the side pieces so I am adding a solid red to it! The only reason I am finishing it is my Daughter saw it and liked it!
