djquilting!
Congratulations, djquilting! I've sent you an email, so check your inbox. And if you didn't win, then don't despair because I have another book to giveaway today. Here's the next little gem I'm giving away:
More little quilts. I told you it was a "little" gem. Same rules apply. An awful lot of you were no-reply in the last giveaway. Here's a clue: If your comment didn't generate a response from me, then you're no reply. You must leave an email if you want to be a winner. I'll leave this giveaway open until 12:01 a.m. (PST) Sunday, December 9, 2018. If you're a follower, be sure to leave an extra comment for a second chance to win. We'll open her up to all residents of Planet Earth, so join in, international friends!
Okay...so aside from giving stuff away, I've been working away on the Shop Hop quilt. The 7th of 8 rows is finished now. Just one more to go to call this a finished flimsy. Here are yesterday's additions.
Homespun Quilts & Yarn was a delightful little shop close to where we cross the tall scary bridge into Washington. You can find their web presence right here, and my blog post about it right here. Astoria is just up the road from where the wreck of the Peter Iredale can be seen along the Oregon coastline,
and so I chose this fabric. Possibly the Peter Iredale might have looked like one of these tall-masted ships in its better days.
Next, this memorable little shop in New Orleans. We were there just before the 300th celebration of Mardi Gras, and so this fabric seemed the perfect choice.
When I try to link to their website, I get a message that the site is "temporarily unavailable." I'm not sure what that means, but I think the shop is still open. Here's a link to their Facebook page. It was a shop Fibber McGee would have been proud of, stuffed to overflowing with fabrics and other merchandise. You can find my blog post about it right here.
This next shop was a sweet little shop. It was a small store, but with so many beautiful fabrics and friendly service. They have a kitty on their website...ya gotta love that, don't you? You can see their website and their kitty right here. My blog post about it is right here. It was hard to choose a regional fabric that was fitting, but we were staying right along the beach when we visited this store, and so I chose this "beachy" print. In looking back, I might also have been thinking of the pennants hanging at the RV dealership we'd visited just before. Mike eventually drove all the way from Oregon to South Carolina to purchase our new RV there.
This next shop was an interesting find. We were staying in Rodanthe, North Carolina, visiting the Outer Banks. We'd driven north on the day we visited this shop, which turned out to be a lot of fun. It wasn't a "quilt shop" in the strictest sense of the word, but the "& More" in their name included quilting fabric. You can find their web presence right here, and my blog post about it is right here. The RV park where we stayed in Rodanthe was right along the beach, and it was one of the first shell beaches we'd been to. I chose this fabric:
Finally, this block from Zook's Fabric Store. What a wonderful and interesting store this was. Their web presence is right here. Zook's was one of the stores I visited during the day with my friend Robin there in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. You can read my blog post about our day right here. I chose this fabric for the many barns with quilt blocks we'd seen on our journey.
So...another row done, and here's how the quilt is looking. It's getting so large now, it's hard to find a space large enough to spread it out for a picture.
So what were the kitties doing on this chilly and windy day?
Sadie knows how to keep warm.
Smitty is disgusted by the icy wind that's been blowing for several days.
When Sadie isn't snuggled up under a quilt, she thinks the fireplace is a good place to be too.
Today I'm getting my monthly pedicure, but that's the only thing on my agenda. I have some cranberries left over from the Christmas Jam I made last week. I'm thinking I might make a coffee cake with those. As for sewing, I'm going to get to work on the last of the Tuxedo's Tales blocks. What's going on in your sewing room today?

Have fun with the cranberries! I need to put together a Cranberry Christmas Cake next week for a luncheon. It’s a recipe from The Barefoot Contessa and is pretty good...and easy!

Love seeing your quilts and kitties
Oh, you are getting close to a finish on this one. Love that barn fabric from Penn. How cute that Sadie snuggles down into the quilt folds. I don't blame Smitty for being grumpy - I would be too. The sun is shining today, but we are only expected to reach 14 degrees. Oh, I don't have that book and don't those tinies look precious!
I follow you on FB and email, and love your posts!

i follow u , looks like a great book
Yes, that book does look like a gem. And oh my, those do look like littler than little quilts! A challenge to make, but they are so rewarding. Your blogging is always a favourite because because of the wide variety you include: quilting, baking, cooking, preserving, gardening, family, travel, kitties, and oh so much more! Thank you for sharing your life and adventures with us .... and for this great giveaway!
I’m wondering how big your quilt shop quilt will be? What a great idea for the quilt. I’m sure it will remind you of the shops you visited on your “round the States “ trip. I enjoyed following along on your journey.

Your shop hop quilt is looking great!
I love those kitty photos. Especially the lose-up of Smitty showing that tiny bit of orange on his inner right ear. Your quilt will be a nice souvenir. Looks amazing.
I follow you, thanks for the chance to win this “gem”.
I think the barn fabric echoes the embroidery you are completing :) I do not need another book so please ignore me for the drawing. With a full time job, two small kids and a long commute, I am only just walking by my studio and waving a kiss :)tonight. Look out for Saturday morning though, because I kit it hard then!
I'm loving the keepsake your shop hop quilt is turning into!! What a treasure. Thank for sharing it as a WIP.
Oh man....we've been following eachother for a long time huh. So fun!

When I first started quilting, I tried minis. Would love to go back to them.
I enjoyed following you on your travels last year and now you are reliving it with your shop hop quilt. What fun! I follow you on your blog and enjoy seeing and reading about your kitties. I have 2 kitties myself here in PA.

As always, love the blog Barbara. Um, did you say cranberry coffeecake? Are you kidding me? CRANBERRY COFFEECAKE?!?! It is a very good thing I do not live in your house. Not kidding, I'd be replacing my wardrobe at alarming rates.
I really enjoyed your travels round Canada and the USA last year and now reliving it no through your quilt blocks.
I just might actually get to my sewing room today! I really do need to post something so my blog remembers me. Haha! Those kitties have a good plan for those nasty days, although I can understand Smitty's disgust. Will be fun to see what you create with your leftover cranberries. I'll be waiting for a photo, of course!
I loved your trip last year. Enjoy the Christmas season.

I love minis and need to make or finish another one soon. I've been spending most of my time working on Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt clues and also a Christmas throw for my sister and her family. I need to finish the throw soon so she can actually use it this year.
I just love your traveling quilt. Such a great way to preserve your travel memories. lanaku@ man.com
I just love mini quilts and hopefully one day will have the courage to make one lol. lanaku@msn.com
Love your blog. I read it everyday. I enjoy the kitties (I have one too) and I dabble in quilting. Would love one day to be able to do what you do!

The quilt shop quilt is looking really good and it's such a great way to remember your visits. How big will it be when its finished? The kitties are so sensible keeping warm. Picasso is hating the colder weather but its still quite mild here in London at the moment.
I've been following the antics of the adorable kitties and purrfect;y beautiful quilting at Three Cats Ranch for some years now. I'd love the chance to win the book.
Thanks so much for the giveaway, Barbara. Happy quilting!
I have been a follower for a few years now. I love the kitties routines. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the giveaway! I can always use another book (no matter what my husband says!)
