Also, we've had our eye on a particular fifth wheel to replace this one we've had for more than ten years. We haven't seen the particular brand we want, but there's one in Myrtle Beach right now. We're not planning to buy anything, but we want to take a look at it. No doubt, this will mean Mike getting down on the ground and crawling around underneath to look at structural integrity. I always look the other way, pretending I don't know him, when he starts slithering around like that. So anyway...getting back to yesterday.
We drove out of North Carolina for the last time yesterday. Here's something I want to tell you, North Carolina. You had the most consistently good roads of the trip so far. Also...the fanciest rest areas. Thank you. Driving in North Carolina was very pleasant. I'm hopeful it won't be another 58 years before we get back here again, because, that would make me (um, that plus that, carry the one) 121 years old, and I don't think I'll live that long. (Think of all the quilts I could make in that time, though!)
And now we find ourselves back in South Carolina. Helllllloooooooo out there!
We stopped off at a Petco along the way to get a new harness for Smitty. When we arrived yesterday, I plopped him up on the table (usually off limits, and so it surprised him enough that he held still), and I adjusted the new harness. Quick-as-a-wink, we were out the door for a walk. And this is a good walking place. Lots of green grass, no stickers, and no woofies.
He needed a new harness because he's become a full-grown Mancat since we bought his last harness. I didn't think to take a picture of the new one, but it looks exactly like the old one. I swiped this picture off the blog from when we upsized him last time.
Handsome no? Only, the grass wasn't very green last time around. I'll get another picture of him while we're here because, no doubt, there will be more walking.
We're spending the next couple of nights at Huntington Beach State Park, near the beach town of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. We missed the turn initially and had to make a U-turn to get back...no small task with a rig our size. The sign was barely visible under the trees.
But with that one full, I've gone back to sticking them to the range hood again. There's no more room for another bulletin board, and so I might have to make adjustments down the road.
So that's all I have for you today. I'll have more to tell you tomorrow after our trip to Myrtle Beach. I'm aware of a quilt shop there. I think I need some palmetto fabric from the Palmetto State, don't you? Also, we'll head into the little town of Murrells Inlet. We're kind of on the hunt for some fresh oysters to make our own world famous Oysters Rockaway...world famous because I've talked about them on the blog, and I do have international readers...so there you go. It works. We're told there are some good fresh seafood markets there. Hopefully, someone will have them.

Yes, you noted the roads in NC. They are usually the best....sad to say you will find a lot of nothing good about the roads in SC. But seafood yes! You are off to the right spot for that. Enjoy!
It hadn't quite clicked that I've been watching Smitty grow into a Man Cat, till you mentioned it. He does look like he has gotten bigger, has well defined manly muscles, and is so good looking I'm sure all the female cats just purr when he struts around the campgrounds!
Enjoy your new campground digs.

So how is Sadie taking Smitty's freedom? Does she mope? Maybe she just says "meh" and naps. Enjoy your time in SC. Hope you find your oysters!
THat looked like a easy and pretty drive. I know Smitty will be glad to model his new harness.
I wish WA had a state law that said "headlights on when raining" And we all know how much it rains in WA (in OR too)
I think my headlights come on automatically when I turn the windshield wipers on. I don't know if that's the law in SoCal, but sounds familiar anyway.
Smitty is definitely a gorgeous hunk o' Man Cat these days! Glad he has a new, better-fitting harness now too.
