Well, it's been a marathon of stitching and cooking here over the past 24 hours or so. I suited up in my favorite canning outfit...
and spent the next 7 hours coring, blanching, peeling, seeding, chopping, mixing, stirring, cooking, filling, and boiling. By day's end I had four pints of basic tomato salsa,
and 7 quarts of chunky basil pasta sauce to show for it.
There's a partial jar of pasta sauce in the refrigerator, and so I expect by day's end I'll have another 7-8 quarts. Also, I'll be making tomato jam today. I expect to get around 7 half-pints of that. When it's all finished, I will have processed all 40 lbs. of the Romas I picked up from our farmers on Friday. Phew. And that's a whole lotta cooking, let me tell you. Also, don't you think that when someone is wearing tie-dye and making salsa there ought to be a Jimmy Buffet song in there somewhere?
Before I got started on the extravacanza, I had a stitching marathon. I've been stitching double time on this last Hocuspocusville block. Usually, I do two lengths of floss in a sitting. For the past several days, I've doubled my floss usage and stitched four lengths. Remember that each length of floss is separated into three sections, and so that's a lot of stitching. Anyway...by the time I finished yesterday, I had the last of it in my hoop.
This morning, I finished it off.
And that is the 12th of 12 blocks. Phew! I took the first stitches on the first block of this project on July 6, 2015...so, a little over two years to stitch all twelve of them. Also, see that length of floss in the image below?
When I took the last stitch, that's all I had left. I caught a lucky break on this one. Usually, it goes the other way. I run out of floss when I only need that much more.
As for the catitude...Sadie was in her usual hyper-alert mode this morning.
She really likes her morning lap time.
So when I get up from here, I'll get back at the canning. It's a big job, but it'll be good to have it finished. I still want to can some applesauce and some green tomato salsa before I put away the canning gear for the season. That'll be for next week. Time is running out.

That's a lot of canning! Love the apron on the slimmer you. You certainly did luck out on the floss - these are going to look so great together. You are so dedicated to your handwork.
You always amaze me! You get more done each day than I do in a week. When I used to can, I just wanted to take a nap when I was finished. Your stitching looks great!
That is a lot of canning! Congrats on getting the last Hocuspocusville block all finished. Sounds like you'll have a busy week this week. You'll probably be ready to join Sadie by the end of the week.
Canning season is a busy time. Did you ever get all your carrots used? Have a great day, just think of your upcoming trip and that will help you push through the canning.
That's a fun apron on skinny little you! I'm with Sadie, a nap sounds delicious! All those canning pictures make me tired for you just looking at them, but I am impressed with your energy!
I wish poor little Sadie could relax a bit. Ha!
I love the Hocuspocusville blocks. They have all made me laugh. Thanks!
THe pasta sauce will taste wonderful when winter comes! Congrats on finishing Hocuspocusville!
Sadie has a good nap spot!
