Great Giveaway: Launching The Bag Ladies of the Fat Quarter Club Stitch-Along

Sorry, this giveaway is now closed, but please join in the stitch-along starting January 1, 2017!

Earlene, Gertrude and Millicent are here to tell you about a great opportunity. Carol Steffensen of Chickadee Hollow Designs, the clever artist who created the Quilting Snowladies, is back again to sponsor another wonderful giveaway. When we gave away a set of the snowladies a while back, y'all were so smitten with the Bag Ladies that Carol has generously agreed to sponsor today's giveaway of one WHOLE SET of The Bag Ladies of the Fat Quarter Club. You can see them right here.

And this is a perfect opportunity to launch a new monthly stitch-along, beginning January 1, 2017. We'll be stitching the entire membership of the Fat Quarter Club!

You don't have to join in the stitch-along to win the set, but why wouldn't you? Huh? Win or lose, Chickadee Hollow Designs is generously offering 10% off the patterns to anyone who wants to participate in the stitch-along. The patterns include the design already stamped and colored on fabric. All you have to do is stitch!

Now I know some of you may never have done hand-embroidery...or maybe you haven't done it in many years. It's not hard, so don't be afraid. If that's what's holding you up, then just check out these great tips for beginners from Mary Corbet at Needle 'n Thread. In addition to her "tips," the post is chalk full of links to other references.

I'll be stitching a bag lady each month to be made into a quilt in the end. And what an adorable quilt it is! Here's one made by one of Carol's customers.

You can join in to stitch the whole set, or simply choose one or more designs. I'll be posting a linky party on the last day of each month of 2017 where you can post a picture of your finished block. There will be prizes!! Even if you don't have a blog, you can join in the fun by posting your finished block in the FlickR Group I've created, or join us on Facebook. For the bloggers among you, there's even a gadget you can post on your blog to proclaim yourself as a proud member of the Bag Ladies of the Fat Quarter Club Stitch-Along.

Cat Patches

Want to join in? All you need to do is email me with "Stitch-Along" in your subject line to let me know. I'll pass your information along to the fine folks at Chickadee Hollow Designs, and they'll get you set up.

As for the giveaway, here's how you can win a set of your own:

1. Head on over there to Chickadee Hollow Designs, click on one or more of the shop categories. For a chance to win, tell me which among the many patterns you'd love to make. There's so much to choose from, and I know you're going to love shopping there as much as I do.

2. You can earn a second chance to win by signing up for Carol's newsletter. Scroll on down to the bottom of her home page, sign up, and then, come back and leave another comment telling me you've done that.

3. You can get a third chance to win by being a PR angel. Post the gadget to your blog using the code above, and then write a post publicizing the stitch-along. Come on back here and add a link to your post.

4. Make sure I have a way to contact you! No-reply equals no chance to win. If you're not sure, then leave your email with your comment. Here's a clue: if no one ever replies to comments you leave on blogs, there's a reason.

I'll leave this giveaway open until 11:59 p.m. (PST) Friday, October 7, and then announce the winner on Saturday morning. Oh yes, and this giveaway is open to all residents of Planet Earth. Good luck!

I would love to make the Chickadee Christmas Vintage Santa. But one would be lonely and I can't pick a 2nd fave, so I'd just have to do the Ornament BOM.

Such cute bag ladies with amazing detail. All are beautiful, but I know a "Thelma" that the block just matches her perfectly. LOL!

Of course I like Abigail best. Her name is closest to mine and, like me, she likes both sewing and fishing. :)

I fell in love with Vintage Basket #1, in the Hand Embroidery section! I wonder if it would be a good size for the center of a medallion quilt...
