On the Road Again

Thankfully, the fix was quick on the truck. We've spent our day in Boise catching up on laundry and taking care of a few little business items. I realized that the mesh bag I use to wash lingerie in the washer wasn't with us, and so we stopped into Bed, Bath, & Beyond to pick one up. One. Of course, they are only sold in bags of two. The is one aspect of retail that bugs the living crap out of me. If I wanted two, I would buy two. Being forced to buy two is annoying.

Getting down from my soapbox now, trying not to fall off.

Also, I wanted to replace one of our pans. It doesn't distribute heat at all, and so you have to keep moving the pan over the top of the burner to cook even one fried egg. Truly. I swear I'm not making that up. Anyway...it's so outta here, replaced with something that will work better. I hope.

The call came early from the Chevy dealer. They'd figured out the problem, which I won't go into other than to say that Mike installed an after-market exhaust brake some years ago. It's always worked fine...many, many, many trips...but now it's disconnected. We still have braking power, but this was a little extra that Mike liked. It's been disconnected now and our shifting problem has disappeared. It will get us the rest of the way on the trip and he'll deal with fixing it when we get home. No harm done...except to our collective wallet. We're just happy to be on our way again.

Just to be sure, we drove around running errands today, which included taking in two quilt shops. Wisely, I checked my quilt shop app for quilt shops in the local area and found this:

Ah, yes. Who says I don't know how to use my time productively? We chose two, but I'll tell you about that in a separate post.

We're going to get some groceries tonight and then head off on our long-awaited and much anticipated trip to Stanley tomorrow. Wish us luck, but I'm hoping we won't need it.

HA! Hits my buttons too. Wanted to hang a picture - went to Ace Hardware for picture wire and screws. Could get two eye screws ok but had to pay $3 dollars for a roll of wire OR buy a $3 dollar package of 4 sets of eye screws and enough wire to hang four pictures. Out loud I said " Why can't you buy just one of anything anymore?" No answer. Actually Ace is the last place in America, I think, where you CAN still buy just one screw or nail - but there are limits apparently!

I was thinking I need better pans for camping, have cheap ones now. I was looking at the new copper ones, need to see how heavy they are, but looks like a good camping pan and easy to clean. Glad things are fixed and you can get on your way. I have the app, never used it though, guess I should try it.

Sheesh, why would anyone NEED 2 lingerie bags?
Glad it was a quick fix and that you found 2, count 'em, TWO quilt shops to visit! Wahoo!

Sounds like good news. I'm looking forward to hearing about your adventure to Stanley. As to your 2nd lingerie bag, I agree with you. But maybe the 2nd one can be packaged as a gift, or you could sell it, or swap it. Heck, you might even find a way to use it for storing cat toys, or some such items. But, in all honesty, I'm willing to buy it from you, if you don't want it.

Ha! I can't seem to have enough of the large, zippered lingerie bags. I have 6 now and still have my lingerie crammed in them when I wash. Those wires in the unmentionables take up a lot of space. And if you don't use bags the hooks cause all sorts of gnarly problems.

Glad you are on the road again. We are headed to eagle (suburb of Boise) at the end of the month. Hope the fires in the area of Idaho calm down by then.

Pleased your truck is now working and you're back on the road. I love your good use of time to find local quilt shops. I always try to do that if going somewhere new plus I have my list of the ones we've been to but I want to revisit if in the area again
