Et tu, Brute?

Et tu, Brute? It's what my friends and I used to say all the time when we were teenagers, in place of today's terms like "rad" and "awesome". Yep, I'm just a spring chicken, born before time began, in the age before the internet, cell phones, microwave ovens, and (dare I say it) yoga pants. Back then, it was toga pants or nothing. And all of that to say that Chicken Caesar is finished.

These blocks are so much fun. I spent most of the day on this one. It had quite a bit of embroidery to fill in the details. Some of it I did with my sewing machine, and some I did by hand. These are the blocks I have for this quilt so far:

This is my project for this month's

Although I finished the block, I didn't get as much finished on the rest of the home front as I'd hoped. It was hot yesterday. I poked my fingers down into the annual pots and found them still damp. That was enough to get me to bag watering for the day. I absolutely must do it today. Also, the birds are half starved by now because I didn't fill their feeders either. A few housekeeping chores got crossed off the list, but there are still more to do. And I didn't even make my Fitbit goal, although I gave it a good effort. The only other thing accomplished yesterday was to get the calico sweet pickle relish into the brine. As I'm writing this, it's sitting in the sink draining from the rinse I gave it this morning. I'll cook it up and can it next.

So with all those things left undone, I had a hard time spending much time on my embroidery project this morning. I found myself itching to get at the rest of the stuff I need to do. I quit when I'd taken it this far.

There are still two items left on my July list of goals. Written in Thread still needs its final border, which is a pieced border:

That's next on my list of things to do in the sewing room. If I can finish that up this weekend, I can move onto my bonus points project...the wine carrier. If determination can get the job done, then I'll finish both projects this weekend. On the other hand...maybe not. Anybody want to place any wagers?

Love these chicken blocks!! I have a to-do list for the weekend, but if I fail, I am not punishing myself over it.

The only thing I would really like to get done this weekend, is get to the store & buy some Downey so I can tackle Mt. Laundry. It's encroaching on my entryway! It's been so stinkin' hot here and now the humidity has rolled in too, I can only stand to work on the laundry late at night. Plus I worked 8a-8p Thursday & Friday (Job 1 + Job 2), today 9-1 (Job 2) then to the Ceramics shop (Job3) with bonus of going to dinner. Sunday it's 10-4 (Job 2), and Monday is 8-8 again. But my bank acct. will be happy!
Love the chickens! They just really make me smile!!

Look at it this way, if you make the wine carrier, you'll need to test-drive it soon! Those chickens are just too cute! We have a friend who just started raising chickens ... yay for us, fresh brown eggs ... she would just love Chicken Caesar.

Those chickens are so fun, love whimsical pieces. You really get a lot done with your sewing on top of the gardens and home, I need some of your energy;)

Another smile maker with those chickens. I'm trying to finish up two baby layettes for a couple of friends. (No, no grandkids in the near future so I sew for my friends grandkids) Can't find the elastic thread so will go out and locate some today. Then the top project will be sandwiching a lap quilt for hubby. Didn't finish block one of the Bee-utiful quilt. I was learning how to operate my new cover stitch machine for the baby items.

I'll agree with everyone else, the chicken's are so cute. I'll bet you get it done, the pressure's on now that you put it out into the universe.

I love that you're doing this one for Book It! Doing some of these blocks is on my To Do list as decoration for my kitchen. It will be fun to see your take on them!
