Big Top, Little Top

Yesterday was an all sewing all the time day, and I finished two quilt tops. It was fun after missing almost a week's worth of sewing. The Cats of a Different Color quilt was two blocks down when I left off on Tuesday. Continuing on with them Wednesday morning, I worked on them until lunch time. By then they were half done.

After eating some lunch, I came back and finished the rest of the top.

Then, I pieced together a back. It's folded in half in the image below, but I think you get the idea...three vertical strips.

This was my quilt for the 2015:

RSC16

I don't have the 2015 badge any more, so I'm winging it with the new one. And besides, I'll be linking up to the new one on Saturday. You don't mind, do you?

While I was working on this, I got the bright idea that I could use the cut-off ends of those sashing strips to make a mini quilt. Since I'm participating in Another Little Quilt Swap 10 with a June deadline, it was a no-time-like-the-present effort. I used the scraps from my stash and the cut-off sashings to make this little quilt. The rules for this swap say that quilts must be within the 10 to 16-inch range. This one is 12 x 12 inches. I'm calling it "Endless Pawsibilities".

There were just a few more scraps, and so I made this back for it as well.

And then...I was kind of tired of sewing for the day. Not a bad day's work, I'd say.

Today I'm going to make the next block for the Chicken Buffet quilt. Also, I need to get back on the 10k step bandwagon with my Fitbit. I've been a slacker for three days running, so it's time to get back to it.

Love how the Kat quilt turned out - purrfect sashing for this one. And you know I love when you get a 'bonus' project from the left overs.

What a great day you had. The mini was inspired and turned out very well. I hope you gave yourself a pat on the back, or pet a couple of kitties, whichever works best for you. :)

I love that cat quilt. It's too bad it is no longer available as I'd love to make it. Isn't in interesting how quilters with cats are obsessed with making cat quilts. I just counted and I've made seven projects with cats, from small wall hangings to a king size quilt for my SIL.
It probably won't be the last either. As I write this my male grey tuxedo kitty that looks exactly like yours is lying next to me on the bed and the orange tabby is on a blaket on top of trunk next to the window, his favorite napping place. I guess our little black female if off someplace sleeping as the house is very quiet.

Such a lovely cat quilt - and I love the extra kitties in your sashing squares too. Great idea.

I made a quilt with that pattern 8 years ago. It's the Pam Bono Pattern Right? The little cats in the sashing are purrr-fect.

Congrats on a terrific cat quilt and the mini as well. Where did you ever find those little cats for the corners? They are the perfect touch.
