Stitches and More Stitches

This morning I turned the third corner on the Doors of Ireland.

One more corner and I'll be coming down the home stretch. If you've missed the past few days of posts, then you might not know I'll be announcing the winner of my giveaway when I take the last stitch. Click right here to get in on the draw.

Also this morning, I moved the hoop on the latest Gingerbread Square stitchery. I'm about 2/3 of the way across the bottom of this one.

Now it's hooped up and ready to go again.

After that I got to work on the Block #37 for the Live, Love, Teach quilt. Next up is Jeri's block.

Jeri gave me plenty of artistic license for her block, and this is what I did with it:

She requested sand-colored fabric for the background. This yellow batik has always reminded me of sand, and so I used the last little bit of that from my stash. The blue in the waves looks very dark in this image, but it's actually a nice royal blue batik. I wanted to preserve the heavy outline from Jeri's original submission and so I top-stitched the appliques using the triple stitch on my sewing machine. Also, you might recognize that fussy cut camper from the backing and borders of my Happy Campers quilt.

Another one down. With 37 blocks finished, it's growing to be a pretty impressive stack.

Next up I'm going to get to work on the three remaining blocks for the Cats of a Different Color quilt. But I couldn't talk about cats without this throw back image from last Christmas when Gracie helped me choose the quilting designs for the Merry and Bright wall-hanging.

There are still many hours left in the day, and so lots of time for sewing. What are you up to today?

Oh, that camper fabric worked out perfect for that block. My furs are helping me (NOT) with FMQ today.

Off to one of our favorite places, Yosemite. We go on the off season for fewer crowds and the change of season. Being from a two season place (dry and wet) it is nice to experience a four season place to experience the seasons we don't get.

That camper worked out very nicely, it's look good. I wish I was sewing or had been sewing, my machines need dusting.
