Lazy Morning

Would it surprise you to know that I've barely been off my couch this morning? I was awakened at 3:30 a.m. and, try as I might, could not get back to sleep. I finally got up at 4:30, read my email, checked in on Facebook, then started my morning embroidery session. I finished the stitching on the first little Written in Thread stitchery and then got a good start on the second one. Here's the one I've finished:

When Mike left for work, I just lay down and went back to sleep for two more hours. Now I feel as if I've had my night's allotment. It's good to be retired.

Yesterday I did no sewing at all. I was kind of burned out after my all-day session on Sunday. Instead, I just puttered around most of the day. First, I fed the birds. They're fed only every other day, but the blue jays empty the peanut feeder in about an hour. The birds seem to understand that I mean them no harm, although they are far from tame. Still, they seem to congregate as they see me attend to the feeders. The blue jays wait approximately a split second after I've turned my back to walk away, and then they're on it...like ravenous dogs.

Smitty and I sat and watched them for a while. The jays are a little too large a bird for him to do any harm. Besides, he prefers the furry critters to the feathered ones.

So now that I've lazed away half the day, I'm going to get going and do something. I need to clean up the kitchen. I filled and ran the dishwasher twice yesterday, but it's a rule in my house that the dishwasher can only be emptied once per day. That means that last night's dinner dishes are still stacked on the counter. Aside from that, it'll be a quilting day. I'm hoping to get three more blocks quilted. And if I hurry up, I can even post this before the title becomes obsolete.

I have been lazy too. Got a walk in before the rain. Now I am getting ready to head out to my guild's meeting.

I was so busy and productive today, dishes, laundry and was happily sewing by 8:30 and the electric went out. I should have stayed in bed.

I love those Blue Jays....we have the sweetest little Blue Fairy Wrens everywhere at the moment. The male is quite resplendent in his blue feathers and they are so twee, they get lost in grass that is only ankle deep!
