Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show (Fifth Batch)

There are some interesting quilts in today's batch, and some fabulous quilting. Enjoy.

Here's another of June Jaeger's quilts. I'm going to have to learn more about this quilter, because I love her work.

Here's a random cat for you.

You have to understand quantum physics to get this next quilt...which I do not...but I liked it anyway.

More quilting in the Zentangle style.

Now here's a special treat for you. One of the things about this outdoor quilt show was the constant quest for a clean restroom. We were drinking a lot of water this day, and so it was no small thing finding a restroom that didn't institute your gag reflex. When we came upon the Sisters City Hall building, we knew we'd found a winner. Clean restrooms! And no line! And TP! What we weren't expecting were the beautiful quilts we saw hanging there. These weren't technically part of the show, but they were showy just the same. For one...this:

But this next one positively took our breath away. Read the story:

Then feast your eyes. Remember, you can make it larger by clicking on the image. Be sure to notice that the river runs through all the sections from left to right.

I took pictures of all the individual panels for you, so enjoy.

Detail from the panel above:

The one above was simply amazing. The rocks were three dimensional and the fabric to the water had been draped in such a way that it gave the suggestion of movement. Here are a couple of detailed shots.

Detail from above.

Here's a detail of the water from the quilt above.

These pictures don't do it justice. It's really an incredibly beautiful quilt and a very special project. If you get a chance to visit Sisters, be sure to stop into the City Hall building on the northeast edge of town to see it.

That's all I have for today. I believe I'll finish these up tomorrow.

Your photos are awesome. Thank you for sharing. I was reading Kristin Shields' blog after reading yours (http://kristinshieldsart.com/blog/) and apparently June Jaeger is Jean Wells' sister. Talented family.

Each sharing of the Sisters' show quilts is just as inspiring as the last! The river quilts are wonderful - and evidently they are all for sale according to the sign. I hope they make a LOT of money for the restoration project.

That's one odd cloth cat sorry lol
The Chicago quilt does cleverly capture the back drop height of buildings in a city successfully and I adored the bunnies quilt!
But t he quantum cats is amazing, such a feats of quilting though heaven forbid we allow cats any more magical/ physic- al powers over us!!
The Snow panel is stunning , so too the salmon I guess, under the water, very, very clever.
SUCH a wealth of talent and. Relativity at that show .. WoW.

Oh, I love the Schrodinger Cat quilt! 😀 And the landscape art quilts...that's something else I'd like to learn.

lovely nature ones, I'm not at all talented like that, the only one that seems tangible is the crumb one- that one looks fun :)

Such beautiful and fun quilts. My Guy had to check out the Schrodinger's Cat quilt. His main fascination, that they got the quantum function at the bottom of the quilt right. Thanks for sharing. It prompted a very fun conversation during our mid morning coffee break.
