A New Winner of a Day

Thanks to all who entered my giveaway. What a lot of fun to read the many places all over the globe folks were writing from! I picked that question just to make it easy, but I'm so glad I did. There were a few surprise locations in there, so a big wave, welcome, and hello from us here in Oregon, USA, to all of you across this vast planet. Also, welcome to you new followers. Glad to have you on board. There be cats here, so watch your step.

Now, it's time to announce the winner. There were 534 comments, but there can be only one winner. I spun up Mr. Random number generator, who picked:

and that just happens to be our friend from Saskatchewan:

Congratulations, Jennyroo. I've sent you an email, so check your inbox.

Yesterday I spent the day catching up on the blocks for Lisa's Retirement quilt. I was able to finish Jeffrey's block yesterday.

It was very tempting to do a lot of thread painting to try to capture those crayon lines. I decided to stick with solid fabrics instead. With the entire block being painted with thread, I was afraid I was going to end up with something indistinguishable from a thready mess. Here's how it ended up looking.

Then I moved on to Lora's block:

When I quit for the day yesterday, I had it finished except for the embroidered words. This morning, I finished those up too.

Sixteen blocks are complete now. Here's a collage showing all of them.

I use a tool called PicMonkey to make the collages. It's easy to use, and it's free. Since I use it several times a month, I actually joined up with a paid subscription. You can make a collage like this one for free, with no requirement to join.

Now that I'm caught up on the Lisa blocks, I'm going to spend my day sandwiching and at least getting a start quilting the two small quilts on my goal list for the month. This Sunflower table runner:

And this Block Party quilt for my guild challenge, which is due in June.

Since the guild challenge requires a label, I've got one ready to go for the Block Party quilt.

It includes my address, and so I've pixelated that out for posting to the web.

There is housework on today's agenda too, and so I have plenty to keep me busy. What's on your agenda for Monday?

Every time I go to your blog, it goes to the very first one that I read instead of the current post. May 11 2013 "My Hidey Holes". For 2 years now I have enjoyed your quilts, recipes, walks through the "neighborhood" and travels and, of course, the adventures of Smitty and Gracie. Thanks for an enjoyable place to stop by and visit.

Congratulations to the winner. Wonderful job on the blocks. I am doing a little scrap play mixed with finishing the quilting on the last commission quilt (then they ship out-early).

Congratulations to the winner! I'm bummed I didn't participate (especially since it was dots!), but I've been having to binge read your posts several days worth at a time. You are really doing a fabulous job on the retirement quilt.
