This afternoon, I added the first border...
and then the second border, finishing the top.
My friend, Deb, (the quilt is for her grandchild) chose the outer border fabric. While she was shopping for it, she also found a remnant of the binding fabric. I've laid it along the right side there so you can see how it looks.
As I said in an earlier post, we weren't able to find duck fabric in green and yellow like she wanted, but I think the binding brings all the colors of the quilt together nicely.
There are two quilts on my quilting to-do list, and so I'll set this one aside for a bit. My plan is to quilt it in April, and it will be ready for her grandchild's arrival in May.
Over the weekend, I'm hoping to get some blocks made. I need to make two bee blocks. We're making these scrappy star blocks this month in pink and aqua colors.
All the squares are 3.5 inches, and so it should be easy enough to figure out the rest.
Also, I want to make the next block for Lisa's Retirement Quilt.
I had planned to start on this earlier, but my printer gave up the ghost. I needed to print out the templates, and I was kind of stuck until the printer was running again. Mike got that going last night, and so I'm ready to rumble again.
We're expecting temperatures in the 70's this weekend...the warmest so far this year. Looking forward to getting outside a little. My culinary herb garden could definitely use some cleaning up.

A lovely quilt top and the star blocks are cute.
That baby quilt is sweet. Looking forward to see what you do with that block for the retirement quilt. It is stunning in that photo.
In the 70s??? ABOVE zero, I suppose???? You have no idea how unlikely that sounds to me. We are still having record lows, and although a heat wave into the 30s is promised this week, we've had plenty of broken promises this winter, lol. Your quilting is fabulous, as always. :)
Wow! You've been a super busy bee! I missed a few posts with so much going on with work and stuff this week! All of your projects look wonderful. You look great and I like the new glasses. Many of us would love to look like Olivia Wilde, she is stunning. I hope you get to enjoy your warm weather! And thank you for showing me the other shapes for the Turn Around quilt. I am still surprised they don't show any other versions on the website. The ducks are cute, but they should show samples of all the possible shapes, in my opinion, they would sell more patterns!
The ducks are so cute and what a great quilt for babies, changing out the ducks and colors has so many possibilities.
A shame that you couldn't find green rubber ducky fabric, but that binding fabric definitely will make the blue work. I love a striped binding!
I love your duck quilt, and I love your blog. You definitely are inspiring to me, and it's amazing how much you accomplish in a day. Please tell your cats I also enjoy reading their contributions. I was wondering if you are going to embroider eyes on the ducks. They are cute as is, but I was just wondering if you plan to give them the gift of sight!
No, no eyes. Buttons are obviously a bad idea. I considered large French knots, but with repeated washings, I fear those too would become something for baby to swallow. Deb and I talked about permanent marker, but we both decided leaving the eyes off altogether was the best choice. These are napping ducks.
You are moving right along on the Duck quilt. It's so very cute.
The ducks are just adorable and I'm sure it will be well received.
We have gray sky and rain today! I would love to have some sunshine to take a walk in! I am as blue as the weather.
The Ducky quilt looks fab! I'm a striped binding fan as well. Fun scrappy stars too. And wow! the mandala-ish star is going to be wonderful for the retirement quilt.
Sweet block that looks to have a lot of possibilities. You've done a great job with your fabrics.
