Project Quilting Challenge #2 Complete!

If gold medals were awarded for the fastest finishes in history, this one would have to be a contender. I've worked most of my waking hours to get the Sunrise, Sunset challenge quilt complete, and I just now took the last stitches on the binding.

As you know, I took my original design from this book:

but had to re-engineer it a little bit when I made a most unfortunate error in cutting. It's okay, I think. As my friend, Sharon, said in a previous blog post, the original quilt made the sun look more like a reflection on a lake. I think it better fits the theme of "Sunrise, Sunset" the way I did it. It all works out with a little creative fixing.

Speaking of sunrises, we had a pretty one at the Three Cats Ranch this morning.

Tomorrow I'm heading over to Silverton for the workshop preceding the Stitches in Bloom quilt show. I'm attending Heidi Leuger's two-day workshop on wool felting. No sewing machines or supplies are required since she'll be selling the kits we need right there at the workshop. I'm pretty happy about not having to rip apart my sewing room collecting supplies. I can just take my usual overnight stuff and be done with it. Mike is coming over on Friday night and we'll meet for dinner. Then, Sue is coming over Saturday morning for breakfast and a morning walk through the Oregon Garden. Admission to the garden is included with the price of the show.
