Around the World Blog Hop: Smitty's Day

Good morning, Smitty here. And let me just say that I'm purrfectly honored to be among you this morning. Thank you to Sally at The Objects of Design for nomeownating me. From what I understand, I'm supposed to answer a list of questions about my comings and goings in the sewing room. So here goes:

1. What am I currently working on?

It's not easy for me to answer that question because I always have lots of paws in the fire, so to speak, but I'll choose this one quilt to show you because it is one of my favorites. And since its subject matter is the noblest of the noble, it's purrfectly understandable that I would choose it:

My mom has as her fondest wish to finish the Folk Art Cats quilt. Here's what the quilt will look like when it's all finished:

These are the blocks she's finished so far.

Last time she worked on this I used my paws (which contain excellent points) to give her some pointers on sewing this together.

Because my quilt brethren and I want things done just right.

2. How does my work diffurr from others of its genre?

Purrobably my focus on spots is what sets me and my work apart.

As you can see, my physique is svelte and my furs are polka-dotted...without a doubt some of my mom's favorite attributes about me. She demonstrated this purrfectly when she created this quilt entitled "Smitty's World". It was her tribute to me, Smitty.

It's a purretty good likeness of me, don't you agree?

3. Why do I write/create what I do?

Well, it's obvious, isn't it? My mom couldn't get anything done without my help. I am pawsitively

the most helpful cat you could ask for. Whether it's keeping an eye on the birds outside,

or shadowing mousies,

or keeping tabs on my good furriend, Gracie,

or helping my mom write her blog posts,

or testing quilts for napability,

or keeping the yard furee of intruders,

you can call on me, Smitty. I'm your man.

4. How does your writing/creating process work?

It's simple really. I like to enhance my creativity with a little nip now and then

and that makes me high on life.

But a cat's gotta come back to earth and get down and dirty once in a while.

Whether we're high or low, fast or slow, we'll always keep you in stitches.

And now I'm pleased to pass the torch to Lynda of Lyndaland, and Amy of Girl Recycled, who will be posting sometime next week.

And thanks for stopping in.

Furever yours, Smitty

Most excellent post Smitty! You're such a handsome and talented cat ... a blogger, a protector, a hunter, and a quilt assistant and tester. I'm sure I missed a few.

You have such a purrfect way with words Smitty but I'm betting that we'd never see you sporting a purple bow like that little quilt made in your honor. Likely you'd say that bows are for girls, not big strong guys like you.
