Friday Finishes

This morning I'm packing things up for our weekend trip to Seaside, Oregon. We aren't actually going all the way to the coast, but our friends Greg and Jan have a Seaside address. Thus, I'm calling this our Seaside trip. No seas will be visible. Unless someone brings a box of See's chocolate. Ha! (Not a bad idea...hm.)

As for my Friday Finishes:

Yesterday I had time to finish up Joseph's Quilt.

Now I have a new quilt taking its place as my oldest unfinished project. That would be the Doors of Ireland quilt. It'll be a while before that one is finished. Joseph's Quilt is going to go to Matthew's girlfriend, Valerie. I asked Matthew if he thought she would like it, and he said she would love it. Good enough for me. Valerie, if you're reading today...this one's for you.

Smitty thinks his life is finished. He's locked in for the remainder of the weekend. It's purrfectly outrageous, I'll tell you.

This morning I made these blueberry hand pies for dessert tonight. Also, I made two salads and some pulled pork for sandwiches. These hand pies fought me every step of the way. The dough was crumbly, the filling was not thick enough, and basically, they were buggers to work with. Nevertheless, I doubt the crowd eating them tonight will have any trouble at all finishing them off.

And all of that to say that I'm finished with the food.

Now here's something: Matthew finishes his last class today. It's the one class that was standing between him and his degree. I couldn't be more proud of him.

I took this picture at his graduation back in June. Today he's officially finished with school.

So I just have one more finish for today...I need to finish packing. I won't be blogging over the weekend, but I'll be back with lots to tell you, no doubt.

And with that, I'm finished with this blog post! Happy weekend, everybody. Do some sewing for me.

Congrats to Matthew! I have an Engineer in the pipeline too as well as my husband being an engineer and my dad was one too, so I know just how much of a work load it is studying for it. Lucky Valerie, I am sure she is going to be thrilled to get that quilt. Enjoy the weekend!

Huzzah! Huzzah!! for Matthew too. Way to go dude. You've made your folks proud.

Poor, poor Smitty. Locked up for the EN*TIRE weekend. Life is so hard for him.

It's gotten hotter down here again, so someone else will have to do the sewing for you. Sorry. Have another hand pie.

Enjoy Seaside! I've spent many Memorial Day weekends at Gearhart, coming in to Seaside to shop, etc. Such a lovely area.

Congrats on the finish! It's a bright, fun quilt. I bet Valerie loves it.

Congrats to Matthew! Now all his "homework" will be job assignments. It's amazing how little difference there is!
