Friday in Bohemia

My Bohemian lifestyle took a little bit of a hit today since I had to go and do grown-up responsible things. Like is there anything more grown-up, old, and responsible than going to physical therapy? What a buzz kill. But as long as I had to go, I decided to get all my housework done today, although there wasn't all that much to do. Now I have the rest of the weekend to sew my guts out.

There was a little bit of sewing on my agenda today. I finished the snail for the Gardener's Journal quilt.

When it's cut to size, it's a little block...just 2-1/2 inches square. With that one done, I'm ready to piece two sections of the Gardener's Journal quilt together. That's what I'm going to do tomorrow.

And since I must have some hand-stitching work at all times, I traced out the next Quilting Snowlady. This is the "Shop Hop" block. Here's the picture from the front of the pattern:

Did you remember that I've been adding a cat to all of these? The first one had a cat, so I decided they all needed cats. Can you find it in the image below?

Speaking of cats, Mr. Smithers has been staying inside pretty much these days, using his tail to keep his feet warm.

Gracie is spending her time next to the fire when it's on. When it's off, she still lies there, looking pathetic and hoping someone will turn it on. Someone usually does.

Today I had a parting of the ways with my monthly goals. I was planning to quilt the Vintage Miniature Sewing Machines starting today. But here it is today, and I am really not in the mood for it. I really just want to work on some blocks. Each month of 2013 I've finished a quilt top and quilted a quilt, and I've made good progress finishing quilts. But it means that working on blocks for my other projects has taken a back seat. Today I decided I was just going to work on blocks for now, and put off quilting the Vintage Miniature Sewing Machines until next month.

I could still change my mind and start it later on, but the blocks are really calling to me right now. For one thing, I got kind of excited about the Folk Art Cats when I worked on that project yesterday. I was thinking I might just bag everything else and finish that quilt right now. But then I finished up the snail this morning and that made me excited to piece together the next two sections of the Gardener's Journal quilt. So that moved to the top of the list. Can you tell I'm easily distracted?

So having made a decision to work on what I want to for the rest of the month, I have new energy for sewing and a whole weekend's worth of time to do it. What could be better than that?

What's on your agenda for the weekend?

"Bohemian" caught my eye ... I just finished watching The Moulin Rouge in all its bohemian-ness! Your kitty cat addition is really darling. Great job! Bless Gracie's heart -- soaking up the heat. I can't say as I blame her! :)

You are certainly entitled to change your mind - I think the blocks would call me, too. I have two radiators (yeah, those tall, big ugly ones)with towels on top and my furries know when the heater kicks on, that means those towels get nice and toasty for a long nap.

Love your snail, found the kitty, and love Smitty's photo. Tell Grace Elly sits by our little electric heater. I though I smelled hair burning last night so I made her get on the bed with me.....giggle.

Great idea to add a kitty to the blocks. One can never have enough kitties, unless you're the only one who cleans the litterbox, lol. Weekend plans? Mostly the usual, but tomorrow, I will get to finally visit with my friend Panda, the first time since her husband passed away and she moved into her new house only 8 minutes away.

Amazing how cats can tear up their couch towels isn't it! Shyloe and Olie are both loving the fireplace these days - me too for that matter!
Weekend plans - the Advent banner has my full attention these days. Difficult pattern and the fusible web I bought is terrible. Wonder if JoAnn's takes returns. Want to start another quilt that was on my NewFO list but that might have to wait til December.

The Shop Hop stitchery looks really cute! I see the cat you added to it right below the Shop Hop sign. You've added a little bunny as well. I think you should work on your blocks if that is what your heart is telling you to do. I find that if my heart isn't into what I'm working on, I usually don't do it justice. Enjoy your sewing!

Judging from the cover, the shop hop blocks will be wonderful. You adding kitties? Why am I not surprised. I should be finishing up doll quilts for Toys N Joy; however, I cut up some scraps and am assembling them on the design wall. Maybe I'll manage to do both over the weekend. Six togo and each takes about 1 1/2 hour to stitch the edges and do a wee bit of quilting.

I saw your little kitty waiting by the sign. Cute idea to add kitties to each block. Jumping from one task to another is my way too, although this week I accomplished a lot of piecing and even started and finished a quilt entirely in one and a half days.

Hey, every quilter should take some time to just do whatever she wants to do an forget about the schedule! Good for you!!! Besides, I did enough quilting today for both of us :) I got tickled when I looked for the cat in your Snowladies block - I was expecting it to be hanging onto her back by it's claws and fur blowing out behind it LOL!!!

I love changing my mind and embrace the idea whole heartedly. Go with what you want to do. You'll get far more enjoyment from your quilting this way. After all it's not like being at work when you had to meet the work deadlines. Maybe I might break out as well as I've got three new projects I want to start.

Just a quilter's prerogative! (That word looks wrong, but the spell check says it's OK.)
We're starting a new challenge for next year at my guild. We're supposed to pick 6 UFOs & number them 1 through 6. Our QIC (Quilter In Charge) will randomly pick a number, then we have 2 months to finish it & show it at Show & Tell. By the end of the year, we should have 6 finished quilts! I signed up, so we'll see how I do. :D

Sounds like a plan. Hope you got to implement it.
